Good scope close range to 300 yard?

    What do you recommend for my AR close range out to 300 yards?

    Does anyone use the Burris Fullfield TAC30 Rifle Scope 30mm Tube 1-4x 24mm Illuminated Ballistic CQ Reticle?

    1x4x24mm is all you need for man-sized targets out to the max effective range of an M4.

    Since I use my M4-clone for yotes and jacks too, I have a 3x9x50 on it and use match ammo to get the accuracy I need for a sub-six inch group out to 300m.

    That particular scope I have no idea about.

    I've read a few favorable reviews of that scope.
    I use a Leupold 1.5-4 scope, works very well out to 220m, longest range available to me currently.

    The easy answer is a Short Dot but they are a little spendy for a 1-4X (the 1.1-8 will be worth every penny) but a Nightforce NXS 1-4X24 with either the FC2 ret is a good alternative... Very nice glass at a reasonable price.

    If you are on a tighter budget I hear good things about the Burris XTR, but I don't have any personal experience with them.

    I seriously don't see many people dropping close to 2K for glass to shoot to 300 yds.



    The Burris is a fine scope, but I'd go with a Leupold myself.

    I'm a Leupold guy myself, Vari-X II 3x9. Shooting 300 yds with it isnt even fair. A good Leupold hunting scope with good glass can be had for a couple hundred bills.

    This is exactly what I went with and I'm very happy. Outstanding target acquisition inside 25 yards with the ability to easily reach-out to 300 yards. And if you buy before May 31, you will also get a free Nikon M-223 mount.

    I just got a Burris AR-332 a couple weeks ago. Very awesome optic. It is calibrated for the .223 and has dots for ranges out to 500 yards plus. Paid $299 for it and have been very happy with it. Sighted it at 100 yards and its dead on.

    Millett is making their "Designated Marksmen Scope" for exactly that purpose. It has a donut reticle like some the ACOGs but can also be dialed up to 4x and is just over $200 from Optics Planet.

    Just wondering for my personal info, I was told that with my Aimpoint Micro I could expect it to be good/fine for 300yds, not much father than that but basically ppl said, its GTG to 300 yds but you (being me) aren't probably- so just work on getting good with your AR and Aimpoint out to 300yds and you'll be fine..

    So is that so? I know Aimpoints are generally CQB optics and thats cool, my AR is set up as a CQB carbine, but I'd of course like to be able to reach out, so I do wonder how good and far the Aimpoint (in my case Micro R-1) is good for

    Scrappy, you can shoot it that far, but it does take some practice.

    What size of target are you gonna be shooting at three hundred yards? Is this a defensive type rifle in 5.56 for that purpose?

    This was my choice too.

    I went with RRA one piece forward mount system, very solid and reasonable in price.

    The Nikon glass in very clear too as you would expect from Nikon.
