so i'm going back and forth. from your own experiences, what should i edc: a 20 or a 29? i'm not a fan of bulking up on clothes and what not.. and i've grown to love carrying my 19; however, i have the 10 itch, and i'm going to scratch it. any day now i'll be ordering and getting one thru my gssf discount. so suggestions?
i like the idea of a bigger frame, higher capacity, and longer barrel for a 10mm, however i also like the idea of a smaller, more compact gun similar to my 19 for edc.

gah i can't decide, and please don't tell me to buy both. i'm not going to at this point in time -- at the same time :whistling:

I went through the same thought process several months ago. I decided on the 20sf as it would provide the best performance and control. If I absolutely love it and really want to make it an EDC, then I may buy the 29 - but that would be down the road. For now, I rotate edc between a 26 and a PM9 depending on what the attire will accommodate and am very confident with either.

G29 handsdown. You can always use G20 mags with or without finger extensions and a longer bbl is you so choose. Even tho Glock calls the G29 a SUBcompact, it is only compact sized (G19/23).

If your looking to carry and protect from people maybe the 29 is best. If your looking for more of a woods carry get the 20..... Also not sure your skill level of shooting. The 10 with full power loads has a nice little kick to it. Nothing major but my point is only getting 2 fingers on the grip might compromise your skills with it.

I plan to master my g20 for maybe 5 years. Then I might try a g29. If you have good handgun skills maybe the 29 will be no problem. Yes you could get grip extensions and a longer barrel but whats the point now it is about the same a g-20.

I been carrying my g20 OWB in my simplyrugged holster all week around the house. I also been carrying it in the chest holster. I find its fairly comfortable even though its so big. However, I think the g-29 I basicaly would not even know its on.

Getting both would be best but no need to get both right now. Master one of them then get the other.

    thanks for the input guys!
i think i'd be fine shooting the 29, however my only experience with 10mm is from my former s/w 1006 and my uncles delta 10. both are larger frame guns. i think i'll be okay though, especially since i can add the g20 mags, and the pearce extensions will fit on those making it essentially just like a g19, right?

First shots I fired out of my G29 were Doubletap 180gr gold dots---I don't find the recoil bad at all. I'm no excellent or highly experienced shooter either. I just expected shooting the G29 to be similar if not snappier than the S&W .357 snubbie I had at the time. The G29 ended up feeling (in my opinion) about like shooting .38 specials out of the snubbie. It's a good kick compared to a G19, but one that will make you smile. You'll love it! Just get the one (G29 or G20) that feels best in your hand, then get the other one later.

I have been trying to make the very same decision! Let me know what you do, I was ready to buy one today at lunch but I don't know which one to buy yet.

I thought I would never own a G29 thinking the 10's recoil would be too much. Ha! I love them both but my 29 edges out the 20 for all around carry.

I'll say that I opted for the G-29 and outfitted the 10 round magazines with the Pearce +0 bases to provide a better pinky finger support. The 15 round magazines can be used as they are but I put the magazine sleeves on for Glock-29's use, they fit well and add to the feel of the grip. Rock & Roll !

I carry with the 10 round magazines w/Pearce +0 ext.

BTW this little gun has put many rounds into a 4" target at 40 yards and is capable of hitting targets out to 100 yards with the stock sights.

I like my g-20, its my EDC, and i love it as it does everything pretty well. I find that the capacity, full sight radius, full grip without fooling with mag sleeves, full barrel length for full velocity, are all good payoffs for the issue of concealment. I have worked around the issues, and i doubt i'll get a 29...but i do like them, though the grip is short.

i'm telling you, it is almost impossible -- this purchase i'm trying to make. i've been ready for two weeks now, and just can't make up my damn mind. it doesn't help that no store in town has either a 29 or 20, and neither anyone i know here in town has one either.

lol i getcha, i've owned a 10 before, just wasn't a glock. can't wait to get one soon enough!

god.. see here people go again! just as soon as i figured i'd by a 29 and mess with the grip extensions and stuff, you have to go and make me hesitant, and think about a 20!! haha, just messing around, but seriously now i really don't know what to do. work around a bigger gun, or conceal something similar in size to my 19 'cept not as tall (needing grip extensions).

oh the humanity .. i can't make up my freakin mind. maybe i'll wait to go on vacay first and hit up a gun shop in SC.. but i don't want to wait!

I know wht you are going thru I bought mine sight unseen! Not disappointed at all!

When we say grip extention we are talking about very minimum addition to the length near 1/2" where the pinky finger wraps...the pistol works without adding them but it gives more control to have them IMO.

    Good Luck.

if the 29/30 had just left a LITTLE more grip length,I'd like it more. I had a 30 a while ago, but i did not get as good with it as my 21. about g-19 lenght would be a perfect compromise in concealability and shootability.

I did not intend to confuse, though i noticed i was almost the opposite of Shadows post.
Shadow know his stuff, too. I just do not like the idea of buying a compact, then turning it back into a fullsize in order to make it more shootable.

you REALLY can't go wrong either way. Enjoy that 10mm goodness, bro.

I originally bought a g20 for a great price, a price I couldn't turn down, I kept that g20 for 2 days before I found somebody to trade that g20 for there g29.

The g29 came with 2 10 rnd. magazines, 1 with a pinky ext. 1 w/o. So I went too the gun shop and bought 2 + 2 pinky extensions, dats right 12 + 1 in my g29  and I even thought about getting a 20 mag. with gap filler, but haven't done it yet. (somebody suggested I buy the 20 mag and put a + 5 ext. on the 20 mag. :whistling: but my g29 is for DC and I don't want it too big) but for the range I suppose it would be cool.

Anyway Just too pass on my observation, as I held my g29 next to my g23, they are just about Identical, the g23 barrel is hair longer and the g29 is a bit wider then the g23, aside from that, they are just about exactly the same size. too the naked eye, you can hardly tell my Twins apart unless they are closely observed and inspected.

This is all that is stopping me. I has a couple of 23's and a 19 and that is the perfect size for me to conceal and to shoot well and the 20 and 29 are a little larger and a little smaller.

when i had a G30 the +0 mag plates and the grip plug made it have a perfect grip. but for some reason the same are not made for the identically dimensioned G29?
