Gold Cup sight question

The adjustable rear sight on the Gold Cup was first an Elliason design. Then Champion began to make the rear sight. Now, Kensight has bought out Champion. Kensight calls their adjustable rear sight for the Colt the Elliason Sight. Please tell me if the design of this sight has remained the same as it has moved from one company to another. Do they mount the same way? Are they interchangeable?

I want to put a JPoint on my Colt. I am told that the adaptor for the Red Dot optic will work for the Elliason sight only. I'm beginning to think that it will work for all the above.

They looked exactly the same on the blued guns I have seen.
Mine has an original Elliason, and the newer one I looked at had one by Champion.
    It looked the same.

Thanks, Jason D. You helped me remember that I have a buddy who has an older Gold Cup. Ill look at his next to mine and see if they mount the same way. Excellent idea!
