Does anyone know when Glock stopped using the tennifer treatment process? Is the new treatment process inferior?

The end treatment is the same; the application method has changed.

The "original" tenifer treatment was a liquid-immersion process using a cyanide-based solution to stick the nitrate treatment INTO (not ON) the metal. The Europeans got around to banning that cyanide treatment for environmental reasons; it was NEVER allowed in the US. The "new" tenifer treatment is a plasma-type treatment that doesn't need the cyanide. The jury is still out on whether the new treatment will be as durable as the original treatment.

I'd like to know the same thing. Approximately what serial number range for the G17's was the switch away from tennifer ?

  11. They wouldnt read it.

Watch, soon there will be a "Does anybody know about Gen4 problems?" thread or the ever-present "What's your favorite Glock?".

Best ammo to run, night sights, holsters, places to get mags etc. But that is the fun of this forum answering these same questions daily so someone doesn't have to read the 3000 posts that would be in some of these stickies.

Most annoying subject ever on GT...

For starters it's Tenifer, not tennifer.

True, but I have given up trying to correct it. The common female name "Jeniffer" pretty much guarantees that Joe Blow will spell the treatment name with two "f"s.
