I just purchased a NIB Glock 17 gen 3 on friday, and waiting for the MD 7 day waiting period to end. But ive been hearing and reading about some problems with the newer glock gen 3's. Are they still common? Im a little concerned. I had a gen 3 G23 that I sold about 2 years ago and havent been around Glocks sense.

I just bought a new gen 3 glock 19, and I shot 300 rounds through it in 2 days, had 4 different shooters use it, tried 3 mags, low and behold I had that pesky erratic ejector problem, where every 5 or 7 shots, one hot casing is bound to fly in your shirt or hit you in the face. I sent it back to glock about 2 weeks ago, waiting to see what happens.

  3. Have a new Glock 19 Gen 3. I now have 425 rounds through it with zero malfuntions and no brass to the face or head!

So as you can see, it's a bit of a crap shoot. You may end up with one that is perfectly fine. Keep us posted.
  5. Just wait.

My made in Apr 2012 3rd gen G19 took 800 rounds or so before the ejection problems cropped up.

I say buying a 9mm Glock is still a crap shoot.

Find an older one if you can.

New Gen 3 19 here. Close to 1,000 rounds through it since I bought it a few weeks ago. No significant ejection problems. Occasional rearwards ("BTF") ejection, which I attribute to the random potency of the crappy Winchester white box ammo that I frequently shoot. Since I wear a ball cap, they usually bounce right off. ;)

Just take a look at the topics on this page, a YuP I would say their is still a problem.
As Brickboy 240 said in his post # 5,find a good used G 19 from at least five years back and you will be good to go. Hopefully you will luck out with the 19 you found. SJ 40

I think to be on the safe side, im going to go ahead and get the Apex extractor when they are released this week. Hopefully it already has the 30274 ejector and not the 336.

Hopefully yours will be fine. Of course the only real way to know is to shoot it.

Have a new G19 Gen 3 made in May2012, @ roundcount trouble at all. Ammo fired at this point is mostly my reloads and Gold Saber 124gr, WWB 115gr, M882, Fiocchi 115gr FMJ, Fed. 115 Hydrashock +P+, Ranger-T 127gr +P+. This is my CCW gun and to be honest, empty rounds to the face(which I have had zero) will be the least of my concerns if have to use it for defense. I would trust my life with it even with the potential RTF issue.

It's funny, but every time I have had erratic ejection, I have been able to trace it to an over sprung gun. Lowering the recoil spring strength or increasing ammo power always improved ejection. Maybe I have just been lucky.
