Maybe an old question---can a tac light be installed on model 36? If so --what kind?

Not to my knowledge--nothing worth having, anyway.

The light rail is one of the deciding factors when choosing between a G30 or G30 SF, and a G36.

Look for a high performance hand-held, compact flashlight, and if you need to, some training on how to handle the two of them.

Many folks here still prefer a hand-held over a weapon-mounted light.
