Are the 34's a good choice for target shooting? Have a 19 but like the longer barrel of the mod 34. Have done the 1911 thing and just love my Glock.

Yep... longer barrel and sight radius. The 17L is better yet with its 6 inch barrel.

Neat model the G34. It's one of those guns that is just fun to shoot. Funny I haven't owned any other 9mm Glocks, but own 2 G34s. They're pretty accurate, great for target shooting.

The G34 is one of the best Glocks for target shooting.

I have a Gen3 34 with a Lone Wolf Timberwolf frame - absolute perfection. All Glock parts drop in - no modifying. LOVE IT!!!

The G35 & 24 are the sister guns in 40S&W - and the G24 is still , occasionally in production unlike the 17L - iirc. I love my 34 and shoot it regularly in club level competition - mostly IDPA.

Actually, I have both the 17L and the 24, and they are still produced about every 3-4 years or so, which is nowhere close to the 34 and 35s prodced.

The last production run for the 24 was July 2011 (I have one of these).
The last production run for the 17L was Sept 2011 (my friend has one of these, mine was from Dec 2008).

I've got a 34. Great gun. Definitely has more potential than my shooting abilities. No regrets purchasing it.

I put some Trijicon HD's (Yellow front) on mine, and found they help a lot. Just a thought.

i got a 35 a couple three weeks ago and love it. only issue was the extended slide stop. the higher grip than say my 19 with an extended stop, my thumbs forward on the 35 causes the slide not to lock back on last round due to my thumbs depressing it. easy fix, the 19 my thumbs are under the slide lock just a little, so i changed the 35 extended to the old 19 standard...perfect, not a single malf last weekend with 200 rounds. also dremel/fingernail filed the longass mag release and conformed it perfectly. i had swapped it out for a standard but it didn't seem to work correctly, it worked but with some effort, so the sanding of the extended put a smile on my face.
i CCW that bad boy too!

I like the G34 better than the G17 - it feels a bit better balanced to me.

Agreed... of all my Glocks, my 34 has the most rounds through it.

The G17L cannot be used in some action shooting competitions as its too big.

I like the G34 much better as it has an awesome balance.

And you the G34/G35 has a lot of accessories.

    G34 WAD!

I bought a 24 a few weeks ago but never understood why they make the 34 /35 when there is only about a half inch difference in them and the 17L / 24. I guess there is a reason maybe some competition calss or something .

I plan on getting a 9mm conversion barrel for my 24 so I can shoot my reloads but bought the 40 , because under normal times , 40 stay on the shelf longer than 9mm and you can go from 40 to 9 with the same slide but not the other way around.

I may get to shoot it today but I do like the feel of it .

Someone can fill in the details, but the G34 size relates to competition, IDPA maybe, where the pistol has to fit inside a box. The G34 fits in the same size box as a Gov't Model 1911.

The 17L and 24 were Glocks original pistols designed for competition. However, once they started using "the box" for most competitions, the 17L/24 was too long to fit in the box, therefor were not able to be used in those competitions. Glock subsequently shortened them by approx .7" to make the 34/35 fit "the box".
