shortly after purchasing it, not even a week old, my pistol was stolen. recently, there has been an outbreak of car break-ins in my area (etowah co, alabama -- over 200 since december, per the local paper).... other than a police report and checking the local pawn shops, in your opinion, whats the best thing i could do to improve my chances of getting it back?

serial number of this stolen weapon is SDZ298

ps - i know i shouldn't have been keeping it in my car w/out it being it some type of safe/lock.

It's too late. If you had asked for advice when you hears of these breakins and before your Glock was stolen, I would have suggested not leaving it in the car.

Sorry to hear that. Very hard to get back. There are a few cases out there that folks after 10 to 20+ years or longer run back into firearm some where. Crossing my fingers for yea.

Ouch, that sucks! I just bought my Gen4 G26 last week and would be pissed if it got stolen. Sorry man, hope you get it back somehow. Wish I could help.

thanks. yes, it's a very aggravating situation.

so what does it hurt to have my serial number out there? on any of the sites... ie: hotgunz.com. or even specifics about the gun.

Well at least you're not responsible for what they do with it right? A lot of people on this board seem to think so. $550 down the drain and some punk has your gun.

Of course, he will probably have a $500 deductible to pay so it may not be worth it even if they do.

Man that sucks. You need a car safe if keeping it in there is a must. I personally have a center-of-mass safe. I like it.

Just report it stolen to the police along with the serial number so in case it's ever ran again, it'll hit as stolen.

Good luck. Sorry to hear that.

    No, he's not.

As long as he reports it stolen ASAP, he will be fine.

Did ya pay with a credit card? Sometimes they have insurance. My FFL guy just went thru this with a missing 1500.00 shotgun, his attitude was its probably not gonna be found. Pray the a__hole that stole it accidently shoots himself or one of his low life buddys.Carma can be a bitXX!!

I live in your county too bro....Hate to hear that. My Dad used to say, "A lesson BOUGHT is better than a lesson TAUGHT." The underlying meaning of that analogy is, you learn from mistakes that COST you something. Not only have weapons and cash been stolen as of late, these punks are breaking into LEO cars and getting automatic weapons!! Scary thought!! Stay vigilant and be safe! Hope you get your Glock back dude!
