Does a Glock 26 (or G27) work well in an AIWB holster? Or does the short barrel and heavy grip (with loaded mag) lead to the grip leaning away from the body?

I've heard some people say that a Glock 19 is easier to conceal AIWB for this reason.

I've done it with a 27. You're right; the short slide makes it want to roll over the belt, especially when you're doing a lot of bending. nothing insurmountable, but it's there.

Never tried it with a 19/23, though I know several guys who swear by it.

Do you think using your G27 in a G23 AIWB holster would have helped by extending the length of the holster? Or was it mostly a weight balance issue?

Just make sure you choose a proper kydex AIWB holster that applies the majority of its retention pressure mostly around the trigger guard. Most good holsters do.

I'm looking at kydex-only holsters. Yeah, no playing around given where the muzzle points in the appendix carry position.

Actually, I was carrying it in a holster for a 17/22. It was a SafariLand IWB w/J hook (I forget the model #), and it still wanted to roll when I bent at the waist. Maybe rigid kydex would have made a difference, dunno.

One further point on AIWB kydex: choose a closed muzzle end holster. You may want to choose one that fits up to full service size (17/22) or at least a compact (19/23).

Why? I can tell you from experience that the sharp thin edge of kydex on an open muzzle end can cut and chafe into you groin/upper thigh, especially when sitting down.

I'd go with a G23 AIWB holster for a G27. It will be more stable and less prone to rolling.

What am I missing here? The slide on a G19 is about 1/2 an inch longer than the G27. I don't see how it makes that much difference as far as "rolling" out of the holster/belt.

Not only that, but the grip on the G19 is heavier from holding 5 extra rounds.

But I've seen the rolling out phenomenon mentioned in multiple forums when contrasting the G26 vs. G19 for appendix carry.

I have done it with both and I don't notice much if any difference. I do notice the 19 has a longer barrel, but it does not jab me or anything. I do like the higher rising holsters AIWB. If they are too deep they hinder my movement a bit, as the holster can move up and down with crouching . I wear it at the pelvic crease I find it the most comfortable.

I carry my G26 and my G19 in Remora (I know, they're not Kydex...) holsters at a 3-3:30 position, forward cant. Maybe I am not as active or maybe I am just lucky, but I've not had problems with my Remora-bound guns rolling or riding up.

I had the 26 ride up once, but I think I did something unusual to cause it.

I do this just about daily with a G27 in an Uncle Mike's #12 soft holster.

Works okay, it does want to roll out without a belt on, but with a belt it's been fine for me.

I am a skinny guy with no belly, and I am sure that helps. 4 years ago I don't know that I could have pulled it off without dumping the pistol out... but I got rid of that Spare Tire and it's working just fine.

    HTH...
