G23 is a great gun. Love mine. Also love Missouri. Point of sale background check so walk in, pick it out, fill out the paperwork and about 10 minutes later you pay and go. Sorry but I won't live some place where bad guys can get guns easier than I can.
  2. The 10 days I waited ten years ago hasn't impacted my life very much

  4. Ya, 10 days sucks. Welcome to life behind the Granola Curtain. It still amazes me that we are even allowed to OWN guns here. And there are a few counties here where I'm at that are practically SHALL ISSUE counties. Awesome.

I'm LE, so I get the thing over the counter at time of purchase too, but I feel for my fellow inmates.

  9. Congrats KRTwenter!

Here in the People's Republic, we only have a 7 day wait, but if the State Police doesn't mail/fax the form back to the FFL, it can drag on and on. Ridiculous.

    I also have a G23.

Not sure Nu Yawk is much better! Initial wait for the "License to Carry" depends on how it moves through "The System". I was warned it COULD be almost a year.

Form, 4 endorsement signatures, fingerprint appointment, State Police interview, police interviews with your 4 endorsers, then judge approval and a call from the county clerk all ended up taking about 3 months. Then you can give the FFL your "ticket" from the County Clerk and you can pick up your pistol.

(Clinton Co NY could be worse: we have a big State U and a big State Pen to kinda represent both ends of the political spectrum.)

Subsequent guns: pay Co Clk $5 for another ticket and give it to FFL. take gun home.

Afterward, you have to take receipt with make, model and serial # back to Co Clk and they give you a new card that lists all your registered pistols, to carry WITH license.
