Just purchased a Glock 23 Gen 4 last week. Took it to the range and shot about 200 rounds through it. Great gun - no issues whatsoever - that is, until we got it home and tried to put the slide back on it after cleaning.

The slide goes on and slides back to about a 1/4" short of where it needs to be and it will not lock into place.

Took it to a Glock Armorer today and because we didn't buy the gun from them (and pay $100 more than what we did pay), they would not tell us what the issue is, only that it was something very simple. The guy had the gun in his hands, looking at it and turned his back so we could not see what he did to fix it. Really nice, when you consider that we bought our Glock 17 from their shop, taken classes there and shoot there as well.

Has anyone else heard of this? How is this Glock different from the 17 (gen 3), in terms of how to re-attach the slide?

We have heard that the trigger bar may need to be depressed a bit in order for the slide to slide back fully and lock into place, but the Glock manual indicates that nothing should be done that causes the trigger to move forward.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks!

    Kevin

Pull the trigger, the slide will slip rearward and lock in place.

I find the conduct of the Armorer unacceptable. I would let the shop owner know his services are not unique and your business can easily go to another shop.
