Can I put a Glock 22 slide (complete upper) on my Glock 17 and fire .40s&w with a Glock 22/35/24 mag? Do I need to swap any other parts out?

  2. For Gen. III only- The ejectors are different.- I believe that's the only change needed for the lowers.

    Somebody check me on this.

I would use the correct extractor, ejector and magazines.

You need to put the right trigger housing in the lower.

I did it with my G31 slide on one of Butch's G17 frames with no problems. I don't know if I would carry it that way if I had another option but I did shoot a competition with no problems.

I was thinking of using my Glock 17 frame (3rd gen) with a Glock 22 upper to shoot USPSA/IPSC major limited...

The extractor is on the slide... How could you use the wrong one?

And I was planning on using a .40s&w magazine. But I hope the ejector is not going to be an issue...

You are correct, just thought I would mention it.

IIRC, the only difference between a G17 frame and a G22 frame is the ejector.

Everything else is the same in the 3rd generation frames.

Please post pictures if someone wants to disagree.

The only difference is the ejector. What do you mean by the "trigger housing?"

the ejector is an integral part of the trigger housing (plastic thing in the back that holds the connector, trigger bar and trigger spring) that long, kinda sharp, piece of metal that sticks out towards the front is what sends the case flying out on the back stroke.

I bought one from Lone Wolf for $7. I just need to hook my connector and springs up to it and I am good to go...

What are you talking about? I am going to replace the part and upper and I will be good to go to shoot major USPSA. Then, for IDPA days, I will put the 9mm parts back in.

Is it not obvious that if you have a Glock 17, and you want to shoot .40s&w out of it, going this route is cheaper than buying an entire .40s&w pistol?

Sounds like you have a plan.
I looked into this once, but a G22 upper was going to run about $350
Might as well buy a complete weapon. I got a G22 RTF2 for $427 OTD

If you can find an upper assembley for $200ish, I'd say it's a good deal.

Will do. Since a lot of guys here seem to know a lot about these kinds of technical questions, I have a couple more.

Does anyone know if I can install the 22 ejector and just keep it in there when I swap between the 22 and 17 uppers? In other words, does the Glock 22 (.40s&w) ejector eject 9mm spent casings reliably?

A related question, can I run a 9mm conversion barrel with a Glock 22 upper in SSP class without violating the rules?
