Getting any sort of general consensus among the appointing authorities (Sheriffs, Police Chiefs, Commissioners, Marshals, Constables, etc) may not be as easy as some folks expected.

Granted, Chiefs, Commissioners & such appointed/hired police officials may serve at the will (pleasure) of elected officials, and Sheriffs are elected officials themselves, but the sheer breadth & scope of the LE agencies in the country is huge.

Even getting a pretty small number of (presumably) carefully selected police leaders in one room apparently isn't a guarantee of getting them to agree on this volatile and important topic.
