My best friend is getting out of the army after two tours in 25 days. He is a calvary scout and very proud of it and what he accomplished over seas. I want to get him a gift but I'm completely lost on what to get him. I thought about a sabre or a belt buckle to go with his spurs and Stetson from cav scout graduation. Let me know if you have any ideas and links to web sights would be a great help. Thanks

If he has a gun with removable grips, you could get him some nice slabs with the cav's crossed swords engraved on them. This company made me some nice rosewood grips for my Blackhawk with the FA insignia on them.

A big bottle of good Bourbon. I bet he already has a **** ton of Army... stuff.
  5. The biggest thing he may need is to reconnect with people and places back home. Many things change when people go into the Army and it takes some effort to reconnect. For me, I never really reconnected with my hometown and it was like it was no longer my home.

As to things to get, it really should be more about your relationship with your friend and not his will the Army. Whatever is important in the relationship is what will matter most.

  6. A job.
    Help him get a job.
Or convince him to use his GI Bill (or whatever they call it now) and sign up for college or trade school.

That way he will not have to go back in the Army.

    It worked for me.
