Are any of the off-brand mags reliable or would it be better to stick with genuine Glock mags? I'm looking to stock up on G17 9mm mags mainly for the range (and SHTF).

    Thanks.

    Glock mags are cheap.

And a Semi auto pistol with a ****ty magazine becomes an awkward single shot.

My personal experience with the cheap Korean mags. After replacing the weak magazine springs with Wolff +10 and replacing the cracked floor plates with factory Glock they have been 100% reliable. Once you own them it is for life. I've tried to trade them for other stuff and so far the response is, "NO THANKS!!!"
    Good luck and stay safe,
    Mike

I was at a gun shop last December. They had a big sign "Genuine Used Glock 19 Mags $10" That caught my eye so went to check them out. Guy pulls a clear plastic bag out with maybe 20 mags in it. I inspected the first one.... Korean...... They were all Korean.

So I said to the guy: "These aren't Glock mags."

He says: "Yes they are. They're for the Glock 19."

I say: "They are not Genuine factory Glock mags."

He says: "Yes they are. Look at the base plate. It says Glock!"

I say: "No these are Korean mags with Glock base plates - and for you to call them Genuine is misleading."

I watched the color of his face change to red. Then he said: "GET OUT!"

I will never do business with them again. :steamed:

Glock mags work. For range any good ones should do but for CC the Glocks are the way to go.

Factory mags are the way to go. I bought a couple of used mags at a gun show for $8 each, then purchased brand new springs and followers from Glockmeister. Just as good as two new factory mags.

I bought a Korean mag before I knew there was such a thing. Could not figure out at the time why a $10 Glock mag lasted until Sunday at a weekend gun show. A little more research and I found out it was not an original Glock mag. Anyway it has worked flawlessly for me but I would probably not buy any more. I especially would not buy one and then spend money for a new spring and a baseplate. My guess is after spending the extra money you would be pretty close to what an original one would cost anyway.

I only use genuine Glock magazines. They always work for me and they are not too expensive.

I'm not opposed to using third party parts on my guns.
    Barrels, sights, grips...

But when it comes to mags, I only use OEM.
