I bought a Gen 3 model 23 online and it only came with one mag, a right-handed eject, LE/Gov-only. Today I was in my LGS and they actually had Glock 23 mags for $24.95 so I brought 2 home. I'm checking fit/function and notice a couple of things.

    1. They are Gen 4 (ambi. mag release cutouts)
    2. They are harder to insert and drop than the original
    3. The feed lips are different

Any opinions on the newer mags? I'm going to guess they don't work as well on the Gen 3 pistols? Should I look for a trade with someone or just jam them in harder when I insert and not worry about it?

The Gen 4 mags will work perfectly with your Glock. The new mags will start to come out easier over time. I like the older mags better for one reason, if you put both mags in you will see with the Gen 4 mags at the bottom of the grip there will be a little gap. With the older mags there is no gap. But both Gen mags will run 100% with no hiccups.

I noticed on my G31 gen4 that the gen3 mags don't drop free while the gen4 do.

I really like how the older mags sit closer with less of a gap, but other than that, the Gen4 mags have worked great in my Gen3s.

Gen 4 magazines for $24.95? Are they OEM Glock magazines or aftermarket brand?

That's right - give the Gen 4 mags some time and ammunition.
