On another forum, a member claims to have been at Smyrna last week for warranty work and claims that he was told Glock was producing FDE Gen4 guns (15,000-20,000) for an exclusive deal with Bass Pro. I've heard nothing of this before and the only FDE Glocks I've seen have been military guns so....

Now, I realize the internet is full of B.S. but has anyone else been able to confirm this/know of this deal?

I know we've got some serious Glock aficianados here so I figured this would be the place to ask. Thanks.

Sorry for the jargon. FDE=Flat Dark Earth

I saw the same thing on the other forum, supposedly Gen4 G17's, 19's, 22's, and by that logic presumably 23's as well.

If it's true I'll drive a few hundred miles to the nearest Bass Pro just to buy an OD Gen4 G23. Hopefully they'd have the shiny slide finish.

That would be awesome if they do! Although - I want a Glock 20 or 21 in FDE or OD

There is one just over an hour south of me, maybe I can talk my wife into letting me pick up a G19 if this comes to be...

When are they supposedly available? I was about to leave and go to Bass Pro today anyway.

That would be cool if true.

I wouldn't doubt it. Many firearms manufacturers make "exclusives" for stores such as Gander Mtn., Cabelas, and Bass Pros.

Last I read, Glock said it would be willing to do another run of OD Glocks if a distributor placed an order of 50,000. I would imagine that number would hold true for FDE as well. If the 50,000 number is accurate, then either the rumor is false, or some other outlets are going to be part of the order and the other 35,000 FDE Glocks will be available elsewhere.

That said, I'd buy one, but only if it didn't have any stupid roll marks or laser engraving such as "2012 Bass Pro Edition" or a big fish graphic on the side of the slide.

I was the one who put that 50,000 number on here and it came from the mouth of Ed Fitzgerald at Glock.

I'd buy one if I could as well but there's no Bass Pro in my state... :crying:

I am too. That's why I posted it. Trying to see if anyone can verify this.

I would want stock too with no engravings. Question is, would the slide and lower both be FDE? Or would it be like the OD and only the lower changed? My thought is its easier to change the color of the polymer than to add the additional coating of the slide to match.

Oh and toss in a factory threaded barrel and RMR cut and I would be a really happy dreamer.

On another forum, a supposed employee of Glock answers peoples' questions when he gets the time. He has shown a picture of his employee ID so I'm reasonably confident he's an actual employee of Glock. I asked him the following question:
    His response:
The original post that led to this story says that these Gen4's are "FDE/"Woodland", so perhaps there is some truth to this, maybe Glock made a lighter color that's closer to FDE to do special runs.

In my follow up question I asked if the "tannish green model" is in Gen4 or not, but he never answered.

For example S&W makes an 'exclusive' M&P in FDE for Cabelas: http://www.cabelas.com/product/Shooting/Handguns/Semiautomatic-Pistols|/pc/104792580/c/105526980/sc/105529680/Smith-Wesson-MP-Two-Tone-Handgun-Kit/1203128.uts?destination=%2Fcatalog%2Fbrowse.cmd%3FN%3D1102339%26WTz_l%3DSBC%253BBRprd706481&WTz_l=SBC%3BBRprd706481%3Bcat105529680#BVRRWidgetID

And if you don't have a store nearby, Cabela's will ship the M&P to your FFL... so I would imagine Bass Bro would do the same if this FDE Glock were to become a reality.

I don't even want to know what they would cost. Bass Pros has HIGH prices. I am surprised ANYONE buys firearms there.
