You can see from my post count that I'm new to this site and in truth to owning a handgun. I've done a good bit of research and some good hands on testing and know what I like in a handgun.

I purchased a Glock 26 Gen 3 and have shot around 400 rounds with it. Very nice gun for me. I've got an opportunity to pick up a Glock 19 Gen 2 but not sure what the difference between the Gen 2's and the Gen 3's are. Is there anything that I would need to look out for? Thanks in advance for the information.

  2. The 3rd gen have the finger grooves in the front of the grip and a light rail.
BUY the 2nd gen if he is offering it up for a good price.
The 2nd gen 19 is known for it's undisputed reliablity.
I have a 2nd gen 19 and 23 and both have fed EVERYTHING I have put through them without a hiccup. If you purchase the 19, check with Glock to see if it had the upgrades done to it. If not and you want the upgrades done, they will ship the parts to a Glock armorer close to you for free. They will NOT ship them to you unless you are a Glock armorer. They will also do the upgrades for free but you will have to pay for the shipping.
Good luck and if you don't want to buy it, give me the info on it, I will :)

Thanks for the info! I appreciate that. And sorry, I'll be making that purchase.
  4. Welcome!

The gen 2 frames don't have the finger grooves. Many prefer the looks of the gen 2.
  5. My girlfriend has a Gen 2 G17, I am trying to trade one of my Gen 3's for it :) So far, no luck... :(

  6. I prefer the looks of the gen2 as well! I can do without the finger grooves.
  7. I prefer the gen 2 as the finger grooves are too big and spaced too closely for my fingers. They are ok on the longer frame of the 17 though.

  8. OP, Would you reconsider? You are really lucky, my friend.
  9. I love my Gen 2's. I have fat fingers...

Me too, I can tollerate a Gen 3 full size (G-17/22), but in the mid size (G-19/23) I have to have the Gen 2 that fits my mit.
  11. or you could join GSSF and go to a match.

Your Glock will be updated (if there were any)

for free by the on site armorer.

You get to shoot a match, make friends and have a good time.

If it is your first match sign up for the new shooters drawing.

One of the newbies gets to take home a certificate for a free Glock.

all and all not a bad deal.

Picked it up last night and promptly took it to the range. Completely impressed with it. It's had the upgrades from Glock (Done at Glockmeister) and has upgraded night sights on it. Very nice!

Bravo! My 1996 Gen2 G19 now has 87,000 rounds fired, and I'll be using it in competition this afternoon.:wavey:
