The pin count can sometimes be confusing; I recommend looking at the grip-frame texture. Gen1 will have a light stipple-type pattern wrapping around all sides of the grip frame; Gen2 will have deep checkering on the frontstrap and backstrap. This photo may help with generational I.D.:

I have a Glock 17 #AE0481 that I purchased in 1983 under unusual circumstances, it is entirely original in the tupperware box with all the accessories, I'm not sure if I should put in a lighter trigger group or leave things alone, does the gun have any collector value?
I just received a Glock 17 9mm Gen 1. SERIAL starts with FF AND 3 NUMBERS. The right slide of the frame has MPDC. The Glock finish is in good condition, I mean it's used. Heck after all it was a police Glock. I was lucky to get it.
Great old thread. Somehow I missed this one. Here's my pencil barrel gen 1 G17 - produced in April of 1985 and imported into the U.S. in February of 1986 as one of the first 4,000 Glocks to be brought into the country. The gun retains the original non-captured RSA and black internals as well as one of the original plain basepad mags. Unfortunately it didn't come with anything else, so I've pieced together a set to include a period-correct box, slightly later 1987 manual, additional very early (although not quite as early as the original mag) Glock marked baseplate-less mag and period correct loading tool and brush/rod.
It goes nicely with a 1985 stainless Mini 14 factory folder that I recently acquired:
Marcus, my Glock 17 Gen 1 came with the the originalnon-captured RSA. I just picked it up yesterday I'm going to break it down this weekend hopefully the black internals too. Unfortunately the mag is not original and no tupperware box, I'm going to have to look around for a period-correct box and brush and cleaning rod. I found another Tupperware box, with book. I need to check the original envelope and manual is correct period. I have been Looking for this G17 Gen 1. Can't wait to break it down and check it out. I like to also get a G19 Gen 1. So the hunt is on. This is a great forum, I joined recently, but been checking it out for years. Should have joined back then. Well I'm off to work. Hey if you hear of any one selling a G19 Gen 1, drop me a message. GDoc3111

Gen 1 prices sure have changed a bit over the past 8 years. Kills me reading about the GT member who could have had a NIB AA prefix for $400. Wow!!!
When I have some time I've got to go over the old threads on this sub-forum. I'm sure that there is some great stuff there.
I see that a member said that he has an AE guns which was purchased under "unusual" circumstances. I did't know what AE prefix guns were in the US. Does anyone else have one?
LOVE that Mini 14 SS folder!! Man have they done well over the years!! VERY nice, complete gun. Fantastic pick up!! Quite rare complete like that? Unfired? Where did you find it?
I have a similar Ruger momento from the same time period...
The bbl is a bit shorter, there's a flash hider on the muzzle and there is an extra little switch on it
I have the original box, manual, NIB period correct mags in the white and red boxes etc but didn't feel like digging them out right now. I paid about a grand for it decades ago. It's gone up a smidge since then
Nice Marcus!!!

Thanks Ron. I found it locally for $950. Original factory folders in SS seem to be selling for $1,200 - 1,500 these days, so when I confirmed with Ruger that this one was indeed a factory produced example I jumped on it (there are MANY fakes.)
The gun is not unfired (I can attest to that personally but it is in very good condition. The seller also had the original 5rd mag, paperwork and cardboard box serial numbered to the gun - the box even says "Folding Stock Gun Box" on the bottom as well as the Mini 14/F folder designation on the side confirming it's factory status. Nonetheless, I've ordered the Ruger Letter of Authentication to remove all doubt - for $10 it's worth it and adds to the package and provenance.
The guns themselves aren't super rare, but in a complete package like this I've only seen a couple others. This is a 184 series, so 1985, and I doubt many people kept the cheap large cardboard box.
I love your KAC556F!! I keep thinking more and more about selling off some title I stuff to fund another transferable and it's always Stemple .45 and AC556 that come to mind. A stainless one such as yours is the most sought after too as I'm sure you know. They are going for $13k+. The blued folders about $10k. If you ever decide to sell please let me know, perhaps we could reach a deal amicable to both parties.
Don't want to get too off topic on the Glock Collectors forum. Perhaps should move to another forum like NFA.
Your gun was a steal!!! I would have bought it in a second. No idea y I didn't buy one on the day.
I collect NIB whenever possible. I have many late 70s to 94 - and post 2004 as well - military pattern rifles of all kinds 100% NIB, totally complete. As time goes on less and less will of course survive like this much less at all in the case of pre 89 imports.
The AC and my other select fire weapons are fun to own and $ in the bank. Sky's the limit appreciation wise. Except - and I think it's a big except - I've long worried that a mag ban which makes existing mags non- transferable could just crash CIII values.
The AC is easily the best value of any select fire rifle. Mine could pass as new but has been fired - about 200 rds. When I got it I sent it to Ruger for inspection. They replaced all springs, etc free of charge and sent it back in another AC box w another factory manual. This was nearly 30 yrs ago.
That AF is worth big $$. First imported Glocks into the US and a PB. The AL is also a PB. PBs bring substantially more than non PBs. Even non-PBs have been doing well in the recent past. I think this will only continue.
One was unfired new in box, the others as new with matching box and papers.... I believe the AF and been fired but had marks on the slide caused by the box....
Wow!! What gems. Bummer u no longer have them. Hopefully want to a collector who appreciates them.
