  1. Gen 1, Gen 2 or Gen 3? Whats the easiest way to tell the difference between these 3 Glock versions? I purchased a Gen 4 G23 today & im looking to buy another but wanna buy used to save a few bucks and wanna make sure i know what Gen Glock im looking at. I asked the dealer and he wasn't sure unless it was a Gen 4 lol. Thanks in advance. Chris.

  2. Gen1 has a completely smooth grip with no checkering.

Gen2 has checkering on the front and back of the grip.

Gen3 has finger grooves and a light rail.

There may be other differences but those are the main ones I know of.

  3. Awesome, thank you.

  4. Are there any other ways to tell?

  5. Gen 4 says Gen4 on the Slide! Others don't what Gen :uglylol:

    Yes it is.

  9. Yes, and I can't figure out why you got 3 mags with Red Label Gen 3.

A G17 is the only Gen 1. (there are possibly some Gen 1 G19's but extremely rare)

The compact Glocks like the G29 and G30 can be Gen 2.5. look like a Gen 3 but have no rail.

  12. Gen 3 sub compacts don't have tactical rails.

  13. Some Gen 3 sub compacts do not have a light rail. I have in my hot little hands a Gen 3 G29 SF with a light rail. I have another Gen 3 G29/30 frame with light rails.
