Last week I put a nice Gen 2 G19 on layaway. Went into same pawn shop today to put money on the G19.

They had a Gen 1 G17 with Austrian proof marks. AY serial #. My research on this site shows 1986 date for this pistol.

The slide had serious wear from what seems to be normal wear and not abuse. The frame was beat up pretty bad. It had an extended slide stop, and stock sights. It had a grip plug that was metal and had been attached with screws:wow:The front of the trigger guard looks like it has had something circular attached--somewhat looks like some hot piece of metal was melted into the grip and then screwed in with 3 screws. There are 3 holes completely through the front part of the trigger guard.:wow:

I told the sales lady "Somebody sure buggered this thing up." She looked at me like I was silly:cool:.

Anyway, the price on it was $379. I asked if it could be discounted. I was told that it hasn't been in the store long enough to give a discount.

What do you think? Can the frame be repaired?

And you will end up with a Gen3 frame. I suggest you pass this one up.

Yeah, I was sure that the frame would be different if I sent it to Glock. Too bad, somebody really did some 'modifying' on this one.

$380.00 is what I paid for a 1st gen G17 which was in great shape
    just a few months ago.
I would say save your money, and keep an eye out for a better looking deal.

If you are looking for a gen 1, for the coolness and aesthetics of the gen 1 collectibility, then no.

If you are looking for a used beater glock that will cost roughly 165 or so to get running like a new one, then no.

If you are simply looking for a used beater type glock, maybe, but only if you can discount the price some....

That is not a good deal, no matter how you slice it....

Run, don't walk. That's no deal. Someone has really screwed that poor thing up.

When I see that mods mods on the OUTSIDE of a gun, I begin to wonder what has been modded on the INSIDE.

In the condition you described, I'd also pass.

Comments pretty much summed up my feelings.

I've sold some other non-essential equipment. I will be going down today to get my Gen 2 G19 out of jail...
