Could anybody tell me how the recoil is? I have heard it is not as snappy as a 27. The only glock ive owned and fired was a 23, i shot it ok and the recoil wasnt awful but it just wasnt for me. I have small hands and was just wondering if i will be able to handle the 36 without a problem and i doubt i will get to fire one before i end up buying it. Any opinions will be awesome. Thanks-AJ

Game, I have been carrying and shooting a G 36 since Feb.2002. I also had a G 27 for a short time. For me the recoil on the G 36 is not as bad as the G 27 was. The recoil on the G 27 had a strong snap to it. If possible go to a range that rents weapons and try a G 36 out. I would rather shoot the G 36 over the G 27. The G 36 has a completely different feel of other Glocks. The reason is the single stack magazine. The G36 will not tolerate a limp wrist. There is also a lot of BS on the internet concerning the 36. IMHO this is mostly crap. When the G 36 first became available there was some issues but they have been corrected. Like I said I have been carrying a 36 since early 2002. Last month I retired this weapon and purschase a new one. I now have 200 rounds (assorted bullet types) and have had no malfunctions. IMHO the G 36 is the best concealed carry 45ACP out there. Once you fire you fire I believe you will be hooked. Good Luck to you and Merry Christmas to you and the family.

40 s & w the worst of all Glocks in recoiling.
Like said above a Slap and a sting to the hand!
The .40 s&w my least desired Glock.
Their .45's are very nice shooting guns.

I am an old man, a relatively new shooter, and no glutton for recoil. Yet my G36 is not punishing at all. I shoot 9mm and .45ACP, but avoid .40S&W precisely due to its snappiness. Good Glock dealers -- pricewise -- in the SC Upcountry can be found in Greenwood (Jewelry & Pawn) and Clinton (Lawson's).

Thanks and i will keep those stores in mind. Currently there is a pawn shop near me that has a lnib OD 36 for 500.00 out the door and thats one that im thinking about so far. And there is another guy where i live that has a used 26 with the lasermax guide rod installed and he is asking 425 for it. I sure wish i had about a grand to spend right now b/c that would make my decision easy...id just buy both

Go for the OD 36...they getting scarce & have been discontinued in OD....
On the otherhand the 26 can be found ANYWHERE & since the Gen 4 is coming out, there will be a bunch avail. The Lasermax is NOT all that. I've had 2 & ending selling BOTH.

36 all the way. I just picked one up last week and took it to the range yesterday. 200 down the pipe and zero issues. More importantly, it's pretty soft for such a small gun.

Definitely a unique find. You can go wrong with a 36 ;-)

My G36 recoil seems to be less harsh than that in my G23. And the 36 is a great CCW. Good Luck

I have a G36, my son and son in law have G23 and G27. We all agree the G36 has the least recoil.

I just went to the pawn shop and they still had it and i was gonna put 200 down and told him i would have it payed off by the next two weeks, and he told my if i bought it with cash i could get it for the 500 out the door but if i had to pay a deposit and make payments on their 90 day lay away it would cost me 550. Even though it was gonna take me nowhere near 90 days to pay it off. So i wasnt gonna pay the extra 50 when i could put that towards ammo. I guess i will just have to chance my luck for the next two weeks and hope its still there so i can pay cash for it. The guy told me it had been there for two months already...i just hope its still gonna be there

I am an old guy too. I have been shooting and carrying .45s for 25+ years and recently bought a 36, mainly to get away from the weight and size of the 1911s. The .40 is not a caliber I would ever own. I carry a 26 or 19 often but the .45 a lot. This gun is a jewel to carry and shoot. In fact, I like enough to use it in upcoming GSSF shoots.

Good luck to the OP in getting the 36 he wants.

    I have a 36. My son has a 23 and my son in law has a 27.
Having shot all three, I think the 36 has the least and most manageable recoil.

when i had a G36 (that i really liked and regret getting rid of) i found that the stock magazine base was lousy for my grip because it wasnt anything similar to the rest of the gun's grip.

once i put on a +0 magazine base i found that shooting the gun one handed was a breeze as i was then able to hold it better and had no finger slippage during recoil.

infact the G26 is the only glock i can shoot well with a two finger grip.

if glock ever made the G36 with a properly fitted magazine base that finished the grip id be on it like a hobo on a ham sandwich.
