    Hi Mas,
I have a Gen2 G22 I keep loaded with 155gr GD for home defense, and my CCW's are a Gen2 G19 loaded with 127gr +p+ and G26 loaded with GD 124gr +p. I like to appendix carry, and I find it easier to conceal the subcompact without printing here in south FL. I tried the Gen4 G23 at the range and I liked it; they didn't have a Gen4 G27 yet. I have been thinking about trying a G27 for CCW. I just wanted to get your opinion on whether you think the 40 would really be more effective and what load would you recommend?

Gus, the Gen 4 "baby Glocks" are so new I haven't shot one yet. If they follow true to the rest of the Gen 4 pack, you'll be able to get a little more hand around the pistol, affording better control in either caliber for most people.

Recoil is a very subjective thing. Best bet is to find a rental range (or friends who have the guns you're looking for) and "try before you buy." The 155 grain .40 S&W load at a nominal 1200 foot-seconds is distinctly snappier (feels so to me, anyway) than any 9mm round.

I have both G26 and G27 (and G33, for that matter) and find use for them all. For warm weather carry, with a good 124 to 127 grain JHP running at nominal 1250 foot-seconds, I'm perfectly comfortable with the 9mm G26. Of course, it's also cheaper to practice with. In chillier weather, I'd lean toward the G27 with the slightly larger bullet.

Individual decision, bro; have fun researching it! :)

    best,
    Mas

Thanks Mas, I was wondering if you wouldn't mind sharing what load you use for the G27? The 155gr gold dots seem to have moderate muzzle flash with my G22, they may not be the best for home defense, do they have a good street record?

    Regards,
    Gus

The 155 grain .40 JHP at 1200 fps has a good track record, though I can't recall a shooting using the Gold Dot bullet in that load. Personally, I've found the 155 grain Silvertip to be an excellent .40 caliber load. Every shooting I've seen with it has resulted in optimum penetration, outstanding expansion, and very rapid cessation of hostilities. Relatively affordable, too, compared to some others. It's also the single most accurate load in my own Glock 27.
    best,
    Mas
