I took my new G26 to the range today. Attended my Handgun Basics training class which was really good. The instructor was very experienced, very safety conscious, and most of all was very patient with our group of 6 newbies. The class was about 3 hours long and covered a variety of topics - 4 basic rules, a bunch of safety videos, grip, stance, sighting, breathing. Ended with an extended session about safety and storage. Extremely educational and beneficial.

Best part - after class we all got to shoot some guns!

Here are my targets after I was done - one at 5 (closer group) and one at 10 yards. The G26 is one sweet gun. I think I'm in love...

Thanks to those who suggested I take a class. It was great advice and the class really helped.

My wife and I started with the G26. A very, very sweet and versatile gun. I think you will be even more pleased with it the more you shoot it. You might try researching finger extensions for the mags. It is a place for your pinky to rest on the grip. Not every one likes them. But the +1 extension will actually be a +2 in the 9mm. I think the Scherer is for people with fat fingers and the Pearce for people with skinny ones. Someone else chime in here.

Congrats and nice groups. You have a very nice gun and your shooting will only get better, lol.

I carry my G26 off duty every day. I absolutely love that gun. Congrats on your new found love. Treat her right, and she will love you too.

    Stay safe.

    Rich.

I've found my G26 to be my most accurate out of our small collection. It's my EDC and a keeper.

My Gen4 G26 is one of my favorites and one of my main carry guns. Really like the baby Glock.

Welcome to the wonderful world of Glock and especially to GT. Not bad shooting - not bad at all - and YOU are a step above most, doing the training and then the shooting. Stay safe and ENJOY.

Well...I do want to take the credit, but...that's not entirely true. I went to the range once before I was quite ready to shoot, but the group here set me right :embarassed: and advised me to take the class first. Which I did today.

Thanks for your compliments about my shooting. I have been dry firing for almost a week now and couldn't wait to get to the range again after my training class.

I love my G26 and GT, in that order :)

Thanks! I considered the extensions but decided to wait for a while (~1000 rounds or so) with my stock Glock before deciding what I wanted to do with my G26.

Maybe I have small hands, but I was pretty OK with my pinkie tucked under.

    Congrats!

Glock 26s shoot so well for being such a small pistol. The first time I shot my 26 in a local IDPA club match I won one stage and took 6th overall in SSP. I was also shooting in my normal concealment setup, 10 round mags (no extension), inside the waistband holster with T shirt for a cover garment.

This is what convinced me to not carry my J frame or LCP when possible.

As a matter of fact, I like the short grip so much for concealment I am going to grip chop a gen3 19 and see how that works out.

If you are going to CC, I think you might like the GAP floorplate which doesn't add to the length of your grip but does make grasping and drawing the gun much easier and gives you a firmer grip when firing the gun.
