Bought my first glock last week(g26) and am impressed with it so far but am having issues with the mag release. It's difficult to depress and not a crisp ejection, this is a gen 4. Any thoughts or is this just the way it is?

I don't have a gen4, but there is no way it should be difficult to depress. I'd bring it back if you bought it locally, or have it looked at by a local gunsmith/armorer.

I've got three gen3 glocks, and the mag releases all feel good.

Get yourself a Vickers Tactical release from Tango Down :

I have them on both of my Gen 4's , including my 26, and love them. While you're at it, order a couple of GAP magazine floorplates. Best 2 upgrades you can do to your Gen 4 26!

Actually, the Gen 4 26's do have an issue with stiff, hard to depress mag releases. Seems to be limited to the sub-compact Gen 4's.
