What do the forum members think of the G26 as a hot weather gun & backup gun in colder weather?
I'm becoming fond of the G19 & was wondering what everyone thought of the G26?
    Thanks.

It can be a year round primary gun. Not like you are changing calibers when switching from the 19 to the 26. Carry it with a 15 round mag or a 17 round backup and you have plenty of firepower.

I prefer the 26 down in TX for summer IWB. Works well with tshirt and flip flop weather, hardly notice it in my MTAC.

Personally I say if the G19 is too big for your summer clothes then any Glock will be the same way. That's why I bought my Ruger LCP. No matter where I go, what I do, I've at least got that with me 24/7. But I find I can take my G19 with me many places if dressed properly.

When I need something smaller than my G19 I carry a Shield.

There is not a lot of difference between the 19/26, a little bit shorter and if you don't add a extension to the 26 mag it is a little shorter in height but most people add a mag extension to the 26 which pretty much makes it a 19.

I don't really care if someone notices a print so as long as what I have is comfortable I carry it, if anything weight is what bothers me most and when you compare say a loaded 26/27 to a loaded 19/23 there is about a 4oz difference so if you think that 4oz is going to make a difference then get the 26.

For me even though I want a lighter gun the 4oz is not really that noticeable so I often carry my 23.

If you really want a "summer" gun look at the Shield I have one and really like it, it is both light and small and like my Glocks never given me any issues. I just need more holsters and night sight's to choose from but there is a little of both out there.

G26 is still too thick. Go single stack if you want a summer carry gun to compliment your G19.

If you like the G19, you'll like the G26.

It works well IWB but I would like to add a Shield or XDS. The 26 does print a little. Definitely conceals better than my 19 though.

G26 for warm spring, summer and fall days.
    XDs/Shield for hot days.
G38 for winter and cool spring/fall days.
    And my camping/woods gun.

26 conceals far better than the 19, and I shoot it better too.

The 19 isn't the same as the 26 with an extension. Close, but not the same.

I've moved further and further from my 19, back to my 26. You're not giving up much. Basically you're just losing a light rail and a quarter-inch of sight radius. You can make the 26 a bigger gun, but you can't make the 19 smaller. When I carry in summer, I carry my 26. In winter, I can get away with carrying my 21. My 19 just doesn't really have a place, when the 26 does such a good job, is just as shootable, and can use the same mags. Heck, some days I carry a 12-round mag, and it's still more concealable and lighter than the 19. Is it a big difference? No. But to me, it makes the 26 the clear winner. I went back-and-forth a lot, and I can't find a gun that is as practical as the 26.

Having owned compacts and subcompacts in all chamberings I feel a G26/27 is very much so a more concealable and more easily carried gun. I also shoot the sub better. I pocket carry a G26 w/14 rds. I don't think I have carried a compact in over a month.

Completely agree on both accounts - that inch less of grip makes a world of difference.

I actually wound up getting rid of my 19 and getting the 26 for hotter weather and the 17 for the rest of the time - I find that when I would wear my 19, I could usually always conceal the 17 so... goodbye 19.

A 26 and 17 is the best handgun combo out there, IMHO.

This is what I've come to as well.

G21 in winter, G26 in summer, G19 for the range when I have spare ammo (lol).

My ideal setup right now would (and will) be a G33/G31 combo for summer and winter. The rest will be range toys.

    I have the 27, works in the summer...although I do carry a Ruger LCR-357 when I wear shorts...just my thoughts...26 is a good choice...

    No it's not.
    Depends on what you're wearing.

Shorts and a t-shirt. The 26 still prints.

    It depends on YOU.

I can't make my 26 print, wearing even a snug t-shirt. Other people, may or may not be the same way. You and I could put on identical clothing, holsters, and guns, and get completely different results in concealability.

In short, anyone looking to carry needs to get their own experience in what does and does not work for them.
