I know it's been discussed many times, but what is the current verdict on the gen 4 g23?

Have all the kinks been worked out?

Is there a before/after manucature date I should be concerned with?

I'm a loyal g23 gen 3 owner and want to get a gen 4...just because I want one.

So rather than sort through the 100s of threads discussing them, could someone give me a quick synopsis of the current prevailing opinion on these?

    Thanks much.

Buy with confidence, I have one with a born on date of 10/18/12, that has been perfect with all types of ammo, also ejects brass to the next county. VERY pleased with it so far.

I sold my gen 3 about 3 yrs ago and just couldnt stand it anymore, had to have a new 23. If I could only have one handgun it would without a doubt be the g4 23.

Go ahead and get 2 so you have a backup.

    Typically, the gen4 problems only plagued the 9mm guns. I have a gen4 21, 22, 23, 31, 32, 33 and all have been flawless. Buy a gen4 23 with confidence.

I finally took my new Gen 4 G23 to the range this past weekend as well as my like new Gen 3 G22. My G23 had one failure to feed the last round from a 13 rd magazine. I believe the most likley culprit was the aluminum cased Blazer ammunition, as i have had less than 100% feed reliability when using this ammo in 40 caliber Glock pistols. Aside from that, it functioned like a normal Glock, no extraction or ejection issues at all.

The majority of the ejection problems, in the Gen4 guns seem to occur more with G19, than any of the others. That's just my opinion, from grazing over GT.

I have one and it has operated flawlessly with 40 ammo both handloads and factory as well as 357Sig ammo (KKM barrel) both handloads and factory. Feels real good in the and with heavier recoiling loads. Have a LW barrel for cast bullets but have not shot any of them yet.

600 rounds and not a blip in my Gen4 23. Shot whatever ammunition I could get my hands on.

300 rounds through my 3 week old G23 Gen 4. I am truly impressed. This is my first Glock.

2010 issue model here, with the grey slide finish: hundreds of flawless performance rounds downrange.
The .40's had nowhere near the amount of issues the 9's did. Buy with confidence

Have had mine since march 11 or so, no issues at all. Although I carry my 17 or 22 more often now.

Wasn't one of the purposes of Gen 4 to rectify issues

I have a safe full of revolvers, a customized 1911, and a handful of Sigs in all calibers. Two years ago, with the Gen 4, I fell in love with the new smaller grip and texture (small hands)
If Obama said I could only keep one gun, it would be my Gen4 23. If I could keep two, I would include my G4 27, also in 40.

I use 13 round mags for carry (fully loaded, still lighter than my empty Sigs and much shorter grip length) and for home, slide in a G22 mag (15+1) with rail light. Good for the home, good for the road!

In duty use, zero issues from the beginning. For internet use, only semi-reliable.

Outstanding piece of equipment. You will love it. Accurate, easy to carry, and will shoot anything you run through it. Forever...

OP, the G23 gen 4's are good to go! There were a few initial issues with those guns. I bought one of the early ones that had ejection issues. But was able to resolve all issues. It's my favorite handgun right now.

@Bill Lumberg, do you believe that when your Glocks and those around you are flawless, that all others out there got to be flawless too? If so, then you are the kind of a guy who's Glock can't go through a mag without a malfunction and then goes online to brag about his gun on how well his Glock went through 17,000 rounds without a single malfunction.
