Just bought a brand new Glock 21 gen4 (which I absolutely love!!!) and noticed that it has a bit of slop in the slide/frame fit. My 19s, 26 and 23 are all solid with very little play so kind of odd.

Anybody else notice this on theirs?

Have to say though if I could only own one I'm pretty sure this would be it. The new grip is pretty incredible for medium size hands.

    It's a Glock, not a 1911.

First thing I noticed on mine too. Shoot great though, so I'm not worried about it.

    Mine is that way too!

But have you noticed if while removing the slide, that it will actually come off from the side? Mine does that when you move the slide maybe 2" forward, I noticed it when I left an empty mag in one time during disassembly.

I don't have the new Gen 4 G21 yet, but I've noticed the very same thing with my Gen 3 G21SF. It is so much sloppier than my 9s and 40s that it really bothered me when I did a comparison. I could actually the FEEL the G21SF slide move from side to side slightly when I turned the gun in my hand.

So, I had a former air marshal friend of mine, who is an INCREDIBLE shot, rest my G21SF at 25 yards and fire a 5 shot group with Federal 230-grain FMJ. He placed the rounds in a group measuring 2 inches (or less!).

I holstered the pistol and haven't worried about it since!

I did notice that, but it's not a real lot on mine.

I noticed that also. I'm assuming that they are good to go because I haven't heard anything bad about the G21 Gen4's as of yet.

I have a G26 that has a lot of side to side (lateral) play at the muzzle end. It is from around 2004. Runs great. Never a malfunction. Nevertheless, I do prefer my Glocks to have less side to side play. My G36 has some, but not as much as my G26. My other Glocks have some; however, it is negligible (barely noticable), including my G17 that has over 5,000 rounds through it.

I have concluded that in my case it is the frame rails and not the slide that is causing this lateral play. I took the slide off my G26 and put in on my G27 frame temporarily and the side to side play is negligible. I put the G27 slide on the G26 frame temporarily and the side to side play was the same (significant) as the stock G26 (G26 frame and slide).

Follow up to my last post. I checked out a brand new Gen 4 G27 today at the LGS and it had very close to as much side to side play as my G26.

It's a little bit common in recent production Glocks, it seems these days the tolerances of the frame rails aren't as exacting as they used to be. My G23 test-fired in 2004 has bare steel frame rails and it's tight. My G27 test-fired in 2009 has the current nickel-plated frame rails and if I shake the gun side to side I can feel and even hear the slide moving on the frame.

Both guns function great, so it's nothing to be worried about.

I can see mine functioning in mud, sleet, rain and muck. Just not used to one sounding like maracas

I'm sure it is totally fine. Best grip on a glock I've ever run across. If you are even remotely on the fence about buying one - do it. you wont regret it - it is my new nightstand gun.

I noticed the same thing on my gen4 21. It's my first glock but ive always seen people have to push the slide all the way off of the frame for it to come off. If i release my slide and push it a bit foreward it comes right off the frame without having to push it all the way forward. No problems at all just something I noticed.

Guys my new gen 4 g21 is a PIA to release slide stop lever . I have to sling shot. Are yours that way. Button almost impossible to use. Slide and frame under a lot of pressure. Please note I corrected this post from slide stop to lever sorry for confusion on my part

It helps to retract the slide slightly before using the slide lock release.

My Gen3 21 is all kinds of sloppy. It does shoot great, but... Can a gunsmith tighten it up? If so, what would the process be?

Glock slide to frame fit?

The newer ones seem sloppier than the old, especially the large frames, at least mine have been.
