I've had my G19 for about 3 months and put about 1k rounds . I'm already saving up for G38 and i wanted to know how well it shoots comparing to G19 .

If you shoot the G19 well, you should do at least as well with the G38. Other than the size of the bore and a slightly wider/heavier slide, they are the same pistol. If you want, options such as sights, recoil assemblies, etc are the same. It might be a good combination to own - the G19 for cheaper practice and the G38 for when you would prefer to punch a bigger hole.

After almost seven years with a G37 and almost four with a G39, I recently added a G38. If I could own only one .45 GAP, I think I would choose the G38. However, I love all three and still hope Glock will add a long-slide "target" version.

To see expanded 9mm (124 gr) and .45 GAP (200 gr) bullets you can see reply #4 in thread http://glocktalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1184792

Huh? He's asking GAPists to comment on the difference in shooting a compact-GAP pistol v. his 9mm Glock. How is that bashing GAPs or discussing ACP pistols?

Maybe you didn't read his note carefully?

Perhaps you did not read the post by fifty thousand before I deleted it. There was no reference whatsoever to a comparison of 9mm and .45GAP, just a negative comment regarding GAP vs ACP.

CPG, I've owned 3 different Glock 40s for about a year, and I just bought 2 GAPs, a 37 and 38. I find that the GAPs have slightly 'slower' recoil and less-sharp noise than any of my 40s. I suspect you'll find similar differences between your 19 and any GAP.

I have the G19 and the G37. I love them both. They are very accurate. I do like the extra firepower of the G37, but I like "feel" of the G19 too. (very similiar grip, the slide is heavier on the G37).

I got some american eagle 185gr gap in the mail last week and those are loaded HOT! Surprised me next to the Remington 230gr.

    You'll love the G38 I'm guessing

I bought a G38 because I liked my G19 so much. Both are great guns. The recoil from the GAP isn't bad, it seems pretty accurate (still breaking it in,) and it's a nice size for a .45 caliber pistol. I haven't had any problem getting .45 GAP ammo. I haven't found any "cheap" plinking ammo like in the 9mm, but I was aware of that going in. (I have 500 rounds of new unprimed brass sitting upstairs, along with 1000 bullets...)

The Gen4 G37 is due out in June, to fulfill a 3,000 pistol contract with the Florida HP. It's the Gen4 G38 that may be out next year.

My G19 is my most trusted pistol. If the lives of those I hold dear where on the line, and I was limited to a pistol, MY G19 is the pistol I would want. However, I carry a G38 daily on and off duty, and it is very rapidly closing the gap (heh heh) with my G19.

i used to think the g19 was the pistol to compare the others to
i shot my new g38 yesterday and it out performed the 19 in every way
less recoil, more accurate and a bigger hole
now the 38 is the gun for the others to beat
i have owned every glock made except the g18 and the little 380 whatever model it is
and i like the 38 better
like i said in another post else where on here
the only draw back is catching my brass so i can reload
but its always been like that with all my glocks in any caliber

I was about to start a very similar thread so I will hijack this one instead.

If you can only have one gun, either a G19 or G38, which one would you get? I'm trying to make up my mind. The G19 seems like a more sensible option, but I got a 'crush' on the G38.

OK - can someone confirm the comment in RED? Does it truly recoil less than a G19? I ask as I have been wanting to get a G19 for my 10YO to use on Steel Plates and at GSSF, because that grip frame seems to suit him best and he isn't quite ready for a .40. On the flip side, I have wanted something else as a CCW carry piece (not that I really need it, since I have a G27, a KT P32 and now a G29 :embarassed:). To boot, I could easily snag a G38 in OD, which fills yet another hole in the collection - but something for him takes priority. So how about it, you GAPpers - does the G38 recoil less than a G19?
