G+? 'what's hot' - turn it off?

Discussion in 'Tech Talk' started by droidfire, Feb 13, 2013.

  1. How in the world do I get the 'what's hot' from the circles list to go away?

I usually view G+ in 'show all circles' since I am in a few communities and have a few people in a circle.

Recent update on G+ for mobile now put this stupid 'what's hot' in the circle listing, and now the feed is junked up with a ton of BS I don't want to see.

I just want my community listings and the people in the circle all in the same feed like before.

So far my only solution has been to 'report as abuse' every single 'what's hot' post that pops up where I can't figure out how to make it go away.

    Any help?

  2. Click the grey gear box near the top of the main page and click settings under the bold words saying "manage subscriptions" uncheck the box that says 'occasional updates from people outside my circles'.
That should take care of it.

Point of clarification: It's easiest to fix this with a full sized computer, but the changes should stick with any device.

  3. Thanks - we'll see if it works over the next day or so.

I've never used anything like this, and I haven't been using it long. Over the last few days the slew of sappy poems, teenager "i hate myself" attention seeking BS, combined with who knows what other garbage was getting on my last nerve.

I was seriously getting tired of reporting it for abusing my feed and bandwidth. It's hard enough avoiding that stuff wandering around on the internet, I certainly don't need it to come find me.

It was like having 4chan streaming to my phone.

I only started using it for one specific purpose, and don't even really want to for that. Stuff like this starts popping up again and G+ will find itself banned from my computers and devices, blocked from ever returning.

One of the fun things about open source software is the permanence of the ban hammer in your hands. Hopefully it won't come to that.

  4. Nope. Didn't ****ing work. G+ has found itself banned from my phone.

  5. It should have, but I only ever use G+ on my laptop. Can't say I blame you for dropping it.
