    Rules/Context:
    1. No gift cards
    2. $50 cap for a party gift
    3. He moved here from Ohio years ago and now sort-of dresses looks like "The Metro Marlboro Man". Seasonally appropriate Stetsons, custom boots, customs belts, giant Chevy quad cab diesel 4x4 etc. you get the picture.
    4. He's one of my best friends
    5. Several of us went in on a custom saddle fitting for him. That's seperate from a large party to be thrown by his wife. Hence the second gift.
    6. Would prefer old school useful over electonica/new school.
    7. He's fascinated with Wyoming, Montana, Idaho FWiiW.
    ________

    A. Does Letherman or similar sell a micro tool for $50?

    B. Any decent utility knife ideas for $50

    C. If all else fails Ill buy him a Sheridan Ropes lariate to go with the saddle and tell him it cost $50.

How about a framed topographical map of the area of interest? Maybe BLM lands?

You know that might be perfect. He's got a great sense of humor.

ETA - I'm 49 and regularly trim my nose and ear hair no joke.

From a knife perspective, it's tough to get any more classic than a Victorinox Swiss Army Farmer or Soldier with Alox handles.

If he is a drinker how about an decent engraved flask. Everyone that I know that has received one likes them. Its not something you normally would buy for yourself but is something handy to have.

I'm sticking with the same suggestion I gave in another thread - Leatherman Freestyle CX. I got one for about $45 on Amazon.com.

Sounds like a man who might enjoy a fine "sippin' whiskey"

    My personal recommendation would be....
Probably just a tad over the $50 mark (I get them here in Colorado for $59), but if he's a friend you might get an invite to share.

Does he drink or smoke? Booze, cigars, or pipe tobacco/accessories would work. How about a straight razor? A nice knife, belt buckle, or hat band could work.
