Just got my first "real" 1911 yesterday. I found a SR1911 in a shop near where I work and grabbed it. I have a Kimber UCII already but have been wanting a Government size. When Ruger first introduced their 1911, I knew that's what I wanted. I finally found one!

    And with the Kimber:

I just put 100 rounds through it. Very accurate and not a single malfunction thus far.

The only things I want to change are the slide stop, safety, grip safety, and mag release to stainless. Can anyone tell me which grip safety is the right cut?

Thanks for letting me share my excitement! :wavey:

I have one too that I picked up recently after waiting five months for it to come in.
I have seen pictures of a sr1911 with the controls switched over to stainless.(on the 1911 forum site via google images , sr1911) It looked good. I am wanting to go with the silverblack grips for sale on the ruger site and switch out the aluminum trigger for a black one, either three hole or skeleton. The aluminum trigger is the one thing about the gun that looks/feels cheap to me.

    Congrats and enjoy.

I handled one at Gander the other day and I will say I was impressed for the price point of the gun.

It will be a very nice 1911.

I got it for $750 otd. I don't think it was too bad considering the prices on GB.

I agree. The trigger itself is the only issue I really have. It actually rattles a little.

Otherwise, I love it. Amazing gun so far. I have another 500 rounds set aside for it. The wind was blowing so hard, it made shooting uncomfortable.

    Congrats on a great 1911.

I got mine for $600 last June, but I think those days are over.

Thanks Bac. I feel that the days of good $600 1911's are most likely over as well. I couldn't be happier with it.

    Congrats!

I got mine for $650 OTD last year but like Bac said, those days are gone for now until Ruger gets production up. Most people want to change out the black parts but I like em'. The trigger does tend to be a little loose which is why I fit a new one in with-in 24hrs of owning it.

Congrats! I used to own one and I didn't like the black controls with the stainless gun and the wood grips so I just changed the grips out to a pair of black VZ's and called it a day. After I changed the grips out the black controls didn't bother me as much, but to each his own. Here's a pic of mine with the VZ's on it.

I finally found one available online with Gander Mountain and ordered it last week. It should be arriving at the local store this week and I can't wait to take it out for a trial run.

I'm with you don't understand the idea of an SS gun with black/blued small parts.

    I grabbed one for $669. It's a hell of a sweet 1911.
