For Gen 4 Glock 20, 6'' Storm Lake or KKM?

I have a Gen 4 20 I just bought and I have a Lone Wolf barrel in my 21SF. It's ok, but I had to have the chamber opened, by them, to shoot my cast loads.

For my new Gen 4 20, I'm wanting to get a 6" non-ported ss barrel soon.
I will be shooting cast and hot jacketed rounds in this barrel.

Who has the best barrel(in your opinions) in terms of chamber support and accuracy, Storm Lake or KKM?

    Thanks!

KKM, SL, and OEM should all be far more accurate than you will ever need.

I ASSume, from what i have read, the KKM's have a bit better quality in terms of fit and finish than SL, but I'm not sure.

My SL barrel is damn nice.

Just so long as I don't get a bunch of smiley's when I'm shooting at the upper end of the power range for this round.
I want accuracy, yes, KBs, no!!!

    Thanks!

both KKM and SL will fit that bill just fine

Like I said the Stormlake had a diminutive, but observable, advantage in terms of chamber support.

I believe Kegs has a KKM barrel and has used it to push loads bordering on "full retard" (135gr @ 1800fps) :faint:
Whether or not this load would be "safer" in a Stormlake barrel is rather moot if you ask me, dont load anything that hot and you wont have problems.

If you really need that much power out of a 40 caliber round you need one of these:

    or one of these:

Or get both, like a boss...

I can't speak for KKM, or for that matter either barrel for the 10MM, but I had a Storm Lake for my G21, and it's tolerances were much, much, tighter then the factory barrel. So tight in fact, it didn't care for my cast bullets. FWIW. Of course SL said they would open it up some at no charge if needed!

I had to have Barsto break the hard edges on my barrel to get it to feed my LSWC loads, too...

How do you determine if you barrel is not of proper size for lead casts?

Do you shoot some and have erratic patterns?

The issue is not whether the "barrel is the right size" but rather if the bullet is sized correctly. And it's about if the barrel will feed different nose profiles.

    My BarSto was tight...

I went with a 6" KKM in my new g20sf. I just put 100 UMC 180s, 200 XTP 200gr reloads, and 200 GDHP 180gr reloads through it with no issues. Small round count, but hey I've only owned it 7 days. No chrono data yet, won't get around to it until I get back from the rest of this deployment.

Can't comment on the accuracy vs. stock barrel since I never (and don't plan to) shot the stock barrel.

The only place I am aware of that has them (and the Gen4 G29 too) is Ed's Public Safety but they only do LE/GSSF sales and even then only to certain parts of the country...

I'd suggest emailing Kim Pearson (kpearson@www.edspublicsafety.com) for more info.

+1 on the 6" KKM barrel. I just chronoed 165 gr. Montana gold over 7 gr. Auto Comp at 1430 fps out of my 21 Gen 4, with their 10mm conversion barrel.

    On the move ... again!
I have been running a 6" KKM for over two years on my G20 with handloads and it has never had one issue. I also run a KKM standard length barrel in my G23 CCW rig and again never an issue. YMMV

I got my KKM 6" barrel in for my Gen 4 20 about 3 weeks ago. I haven't shot with it yet, but fits and hand cycles my reloads ok from what I can tell.
I'll get out a range report soon.
