I don't understand. What are the military victims being denied?

There is no such thing, AFAIK, as 'combat' pay in CONUS.

    Edit:

I hope some lucky department will offer a job to the female Police Officer. She's proven she has the 'right stuff'.

As emotional as it may sound to claim otherwise....it was not 'combat related' and was simply a soldier on soldier crime.

Sad thing is I can see (both sides) of this one. (also I don't know exact qualifications for "combat, war related, purple heart qual..."

I would think a argument could be made that shooter WAS in contact/likely a agent of El Kita (I know spelling but who really cares?)
So question. (lets say any war/battle) and soldier is outside of established war zone for R&R, retraining, rehab... and a enemy agent (who may even wear the same uniform) starts killing you and your partners. Would you be eligable for Purple Heart? (I don't know)

IF so. These folks were in Military (correct?) on a base, at some military function?? (where they were required to be) A person acting in interest of enemy attacked them with deadly force.....
Guess I lean toward considering it a combat related.... Make a bunch of (limiting reasons) so every fist fight on base a guy does not try to make it "combat related" and purple heart. (I can see Kerry doing that)

It's not so much that anyone cares if you spell it right, it's more a matter of if you don't spell it at least vaguely similarly to how it's actually spelled, no one will know what the heck you mean. "El Kita" makes me think of a Mexican kite.

John Kerry was unquestionably entitled to the Purple Hearts he was awarded. He was wounded while exchanging fire with the enemy.

Few things are funnier than someone who writes as cryptically as you criticizing someone's English.

Given the OHub Campfire tag at the bottom of the post, I'm guessing that the good fnfalman wrote the post on his phone, and the "she GIs" is an artifact of autocorrect on a mobile device.

I think the question was whether it was a terrorist act. I can see both sides (considering the doc was in the Army but had been "radicalized" by Al Qaeda).

The "soldier" was a muslim terrorist and a combatant from a specific group we are at war with. You are wrong.

The enemy were poor shots in this case.

Was there any proof that he signed up under fraudulent belief then became an agent saboteur? Or did he just one day decided that he wanted to defend the Islamic faith?

My understanding is Hasan was never conclusively linked to any terrorist groups although he may have sympathized with their views. Even if you do show a weak link you are still dealing with the fact he is a fellow soldier who committed a crime on a military base not located in a combat arena.

Actually there's plenty of question as to whether he deserved those Purple Heats or not:

Kerry is an unmititgated far left POS. While he did serve, have to give him that, it seems he was far from honorable.

Exactly. He should be hung as a spy.

I don't see why that is anybody's job to figure out. Or that it matters.

Not really. The military records are quite clear, and they were never really questioned until the 2004 Presidential campaign. The man still has shrapnel in his leg.

I disagree with his politics, I think he lacks integrity, and he is incredibly boring, but it's clear that he served in combat, exchanged fire with the enemy, and was wounded.

(Also, the allegation that he "injured himself intentionally" with an M79 is insane to anyone that has actually fired a 40mm grenade launcher.)
