FNC is announcing a remake of the Cosmos series. They're saying it should be great because of all the advances in special fx, but there have also been many leaps in the astrophysics field. I'm looking forward to it.

I put it in RI because you know :winkie: they're going to be talking about how the universe came from nothing, and how we all came from monkeys.

Great idea for a blockbuster SiFi chanel movie. Be sure to claim royalties.

That show won't even MENTION the likes of a Cockatrice, Leviathan, Behemoth, Dragon or Unicorns. The Bible is WAY ahead on this subject.

Why do you consider the new COSMOS series to be a "War on Christianity"? I doubt it will even mention the evolution vs creation issue.

    I plan on watching it.

Maybe you should change the title of your thread to be more descriptive of your post?

I don't believe it to be part of 'The War On Christianity'. I was just using a tactic common to RI, but I could follow through and claim to believe it to be.

Anyway, I think it would be worth a watch for anyone who would like to have some understanding of what theories and discoveries are around now. Much of the arguments around here involve plenty of knowledge of what The Bible says, but little knowledge of what might likely be covered by this show.

    Yep, a VERY common tactic.

And a very cheap shot. What ever happened to ethics?

The original series was an outstanding factual show. Every indication I have seen leads me to believe the new show will be even better.

Organized religion is a man made tool to keep the sheep in line.... still working.

Since it's not an issue among the great majority of the science world, you are probably right. It will not be mentioned as an "issue", but facts will be presented.

I see that Carl Sagan's widow (a non-believer) is involved in the production. I'm looking forward to it.

That's nonsense. Without the moral, ethic and cleanliness standards set forth by the world's religions, man would have destroyed himself long ago.

Most of the laws in the Old Testament are health laws, designed to ensure that mankind survived.

Without religion we'd be nothing more than animals, maybe even worse than animals.

If anything, religion has kept the wolves in line, not the sheep.

Good point! That explains the lawless chaos in those savage lands like Canada, Belgium, France, South Korea and Sweden.

So mankind without God would not have drawn a correlation between eating wormy pigs and people getting sick?

Maybe God could have told people to stop poisoning the shellfish in the estuaries with their poop in the river.
