I am looking to put together a project rifle. I was going to rebuild by .308 Savage but I can't help but think "Don't fix what isn't broken." Never the less, I still want to build a 260 Rem or some other sort of 6.5mm rifle. I found some FN Herstal Patrol actions. From the most I can gather it is a remake of the pre-64 Winchester action. Has anyone had any success or failures from building from this action. I can get the action and a Hogue stock for $450. Then I would have to put a barrel on it, probably a McGowen or Shilen barrel.
