    Talk about low expectations.

Yes, we could use some "change" here in Florida. Each of the Board Members was appointed by a Republican Governor, going as far back as Jeb Bush. A black board member (also appointed by a Republican governor) recently left, probably because he didn't like where things were going with the student evaluations.

Each according to his ability, each according to his needs. Somewhere Karl Marx is grinning, and those in D. C. also.

If they raised the Asians, dropped the A-As then they'd have about just what's happen' now, huh?

This is another weird attempt to ignore cultural influences and adjust reality to match perceptions.

"Ya cain't make no silk purse outten a hog's ear." . . as explained to me by a board of ed. member near here.:whistling:

No, appointment to the board is mostly a political thing. PhD is not required. They're just Republican political hacks.

Those goals line up pretty well with The Bell Curve.

    Proposed reading levels:
    Asian: 90%
    White: 88%
    Hispanic: 81%
    Black: 74%

    Current reading levels:
    Asian: 76%
    White: 69%
    Hispanic: 53%
    Black: 38%

Even with these "lowered" standards, there's still going to have to be more effort (and money) put into Hispanic and black students than into Asian and white ones.

Yup -- "the soft racism of low expectations"...This is an excellent example.

Ebonics recycled. My, how green of them. Taking a crap idea and making something beautiful grow from it. It could work. In a land with chocolate rivers and marshmallow trees and unicorns. Ladedah

I wondered because it has been my experience that folks drawn to potential positions of power in something about fluffy feelings and social engineering via government programs are usually Democrats.. Progressive Democrats with socialist leanings.

There's the fallacy of 'equality' which absolutely must be addressed- people are NOT equal, they are NOT created equal, so therefore we need to stress that which we can address---- EQUAL OPPORTUNITY AND EQUAL TREATMENT UNDER THE LAW.

This pretending Josephus is equal in all ways to Remus is BS.

Why is the NBA dominated by huge black guys? Why are grad schools dominated by Asians and whites?

Folks need to grow the hell up and look reality in the eye.

Ridiculous. Expanding on this, we need to eliminate affirmative action entirely. College applications should have no name, no race, no sex, no religion - just a serial number. This way people get accepted based entirely on their abilities and effort.

But....BUT...BUT! You are speaking of a system run purely on MERIT while the edumacation moguls and Ivory Tower occupiers think M_E_R_I_T is something one eats.
