Are these pretty common back home? I cant remember if I have seen one many years ago but I bet we have them. Like they said, all trees grow in RP. I miss the Acacia , coconut and mangoes trees, and all the fruit trees of our great land.

I believe they are called flame trees here. Maganda nga pero ayaw ng iba kasi makalat when the flowers fall, madami din higad kaya delikado sa mga bata.

The golden shower trees are nice, yellow naman. :)

Here they're more commonly called Fire Tree (Delonix regia)

Almost excessively common, and with them, the rash-inducing caterpillars
that feed on their leaves. The Golden Shower trees are even worse in that regard.

They're both very beautiful when abloom, though...
Here's someone's shot of a row of fire trees,
just past the heavy bloom stage, at UP Diliman,
    between Faculty/AS and Engineering:

    Hmmm, brings up memories!

During our time, we always avoided the concrete waiting sheds along the stretch between Kalayaan Residence Hall and the Engineering Bulding. There's this particular part of the year when these sheds would literally be covered by crawling higads.

So typical. Something so beautiful will leave you with a nasty itch afterwards if your not careful.
