There are at least two threads mentioning the Fish Gill serrations on the slide.

I have a question of those who have used both styles.
Is there an advantage to one over the other? I've only used the straight ones & am seeing that the fish gills are pretty popular. So if those who have used both would like to give their reasons of prefference, I'd be interested.
    Thanks.

Mostly preference. But they no longer make the gills so rareness is nice. Gills also came on rtf frames only.

Fish gills don't come down all the way down the slide. The straight serrations make sharp edges at the bottom of the slide.

Plus the gills are cooler, and everyone knows that is the most important part of a gun. ;)

I have and use both. In actual practice, I can't tell the difference in functionality.

In buying several RFT2 framed guns, the "gilled" scallops have never been a factor in a purchase decision. It's really all about the grip for me. Unequaled.

I own both. The gills are preferred. Much more traction to rack the slide for me

Gills are just for extra cool points. If they were facing the other direction I think we would have something.

    The grip is amazing.

Agree 100% about the gills facing the wrong way.Always hoped glock would fix that.

A "fish gill" G22 is on my short list.

I saw a brand new one in a LGS here in Florida a couple months ago. The guy said they have had it for awhile

Keep a eye out at pawn stores. I purchased mine from one and they didn't know the difference and just had it labeled as a G22 and priced the same as the regular used glocks. It was a touch more than the used LE regular 22's go for but my RTF2 must have been a safe queen, it was mint.

Nope,......take a look at a tractor tire. Glock got it right.

  12. One would think any slippage should be guided toward the center of the chevron, not off the edge of the slide.

Glocks stock serrations are much improved with the new gray finish. Still not as quite as most other guns though. Have never tried the gills.

I really do wish Glock could improve the serrations. It's just an adjustment to their machining right? It's not like they would need millions of dollars in new molds and whatnot.
