Took my new Colt to the range for the first time this Sunday morning. It was my first time shooting an AR-type rifle and man, that was a lot of fun. Thing that surprised me was how much boom comes from such a small round. I had an indoor range all to myself for a while and it sounded like someone was testing hydrogen-atom-nuclear bomb in there. Also, I noticed like a strong acrid odor coming off the gun. Not the usual smell of gunpowder burning. Was this perhaps just the smell of the weapon breaking in, or the factory lube burning off, or some unique powder in WWB 5.56 ammo. Accuracy was also pretty unbelievable. Off the sight I was hitting two- and three-inch groups at almost 50 feet. Anyways, it was a lot of fun. Looking forward to breaking it down for a thorough cleaning. I love this rifle! Did you guys know what an awesome weapon this is?
