In a stock Gen 3 17 replacing the connector to a 3.5, should you replace the firing pin spring to a 4lb or is there a benifit or should you leave the stock. I guess I am asking why change it or is there a upside using it with the 3.5 conn. Thanks.

Change it if you like. There are 3 basic parts to doing a trigger job. You have the connector, trigger spring and firing pin spring. These parts are all inexpensive so why not try a combination of them until you get the trigger you like? Once you settle in on a trigger pull you can polish the bearing surfaces and be done with it.
Remember to prove the trigger by shooting a few hundred rounds before relying on it for carry.
