    just an OT heads-up:

A sci-fi TV series near and dear to my heart, "Firefly",
is premiering* in the Philippines tonight, on C/S.
the show has sustained a hardcore fanbase all over the globe.

That's Monday nights, at 8:00 pm, leading in to "Heroes"
Try it out for a handful of episodes!

*Some years back, ABC 5 tried to air the entire first season.

Waaah, we don't have cable TV.

What's the relationship between this show and the movie "Serenity" that was shown around 2005?

Firefly is the orig, Serenity is the movie adaptation or some other more appropriate term for that.

    CX has it about right.

Firefly is the TV series that spawned the movie Serenity.
    Heartbreaking excellence in sci-fi, really.

Oh man, I loved that show. Cowboy western meets Battlestar Galactica. Too bad it only lasted 13 episodes. What the hell was Fox thinking???

Every once in a while, I watch the entire first (and only) season as I have it on my external drive.

The special effects were good (considering it was a tv show) and the dialogue is very well written too.

Serenity was Joss Whedon's (the TV and film's producer) gift to all the loyal fans of Firefly. I think a special Serenity director's cut DVD is out soon too.

    All together now...

Take my love, take my land
Take me where I cannot stand
    I don't care, I'm still free
You can't take the sky from me
Take me out to the black
Tell them I ain't comin' back
Burn the land and boil the sea
You can't take the sky from me
There's no place I can be
    Since I found Serenity
But you can't take the sky from me...

BTW, to all the fans of Summer Glau, watch out for her in the new TV show Terminator: Sarah Connor chronicles.
