Well, I've wanted a 1911 for about as long as I can remember. I finally brought one home tonight! My local gun shop had a good deal on a NIB Smith and Wesson and I couldn't pass it up. It may not be the greatest 1911 in the world, but it's my 1911. Well, here she is!

Thanks a lot guys! For the price, I couldn't leave the store without it. I also got a free box of ammo to boot! I'm thinking about ordering some VZ Grips for it. Any ideas?

I like his black blasted canvas Gatorbacks (the originals). They provide a great hold without being abrasive or chewing up your side.

    Depends on where I am.
Congrats! For a $1k 1911, S&Ws are great. Mine has almost 1k rounds through it. They work and are accurate. Just like any other pistol, clean the rails, barrel; and grease the slide rails.

It's good that you took off the safety labels.

Looks great. Congrats. How much did that set you back if you don't mind me asking? I am in the market for another 1911.

I'm sure you'll enjoy it immensely and if they ever make one without that long black scar on the right side of the slide, I'd take a closer look at one, but the external extractor on a 1911 pattern gun just isn't for me. :embarassed:

Congrats and a good choice. I like my SW1911 and think they are a solid option in that price range. Let us know how it goes once you get to take it to the range.

As for VZ grips-they can be addictive. Before you know it, you can have a box full of extra grips. Enjoy

Congrats! You have just purchased one of the most under-rated 1911s out there. Mine has been absolutely fantastic in reliability and accuracy. I picked up mine for $700 NIB out the door. It shoots everything I feed it without a hickup, and extracts and ejects better than any 1911 I've fired (Colt, Springfield, Kimber... etc).

One time, I did get nailed in the head with brass. Man the SW1911 throws brass hard! It was once in about 1k rnds, so probably my grip or the particular shell, and not the gun.

Good luck to you, and when you break-in any new 1911, where a ball-cap in case the brass starts pegging you.

I paid $701.48 OTD. I also got a free box of ammo for being a good customer. It's kinda like getting candy at the dr's office...'cept a whole lot more fun!

Good looking!!... I can't wait to pick up a 1911 (although mine will be a budget 1911).

    Congrats!
