Revisiting the issue in the court's Monday ruling, Thompson said, "The court was struck by a parallel in some respects between the right of women to decide to terminate a pregnancy and the right of the individual to keep and bear firearms, including handguns, in her home for the purposes of self-defense."

Both rights are controversial, and there are opponents of each who, based on moral or ethical convictions, feel they should not be rights and deserve no constitutional protection. Each protected right is also held by the individual, but neither right can be realized "without the assistance of someone else," he wrote

Freedom means people do things you don't like. As long as it doesn't pick your pocket or break your leg, butt out.

Hopefully Texas gets its wee-wee slapped in the same manner.

Interesting comparison although I wonder if both rights come from the same source.

The right of the people to kill their offspring in the name of convenience shall not be infringed.

Life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Unless you're in the womb. Then you're fair game.

    Now that I'm born, I'm pro-choice!

That's my take on it too.

It doesn't affect you so keep your hands off.

Too bad today's "Republicans" want massive government, instead of small government, like they're supposed to want.

Some rights are actually enumerated in the Constitution while others are invented under the "penumbra" of said document.

  8. The judge got it right. The same reasoning will apply when the left passes a law allowing ammunition, gun powder, bullets and casings to be sold to and possessed only by law enforcement or military.

Roe v. Wade was a horribly flawed decision. Badly reasoned and written.
Having said that, at this point it's better to win hearts and minds rather than change the law.
As the saying goes nowadays, "It is what it is."

Sounds exactly like the signs held at anti-gun demonstrations. HH

Anti abortionists are probably worse than anti gunners.

Until anti-gunners start chaining themselves to gunstore gates, I'll agree. HH
