He fled to his native country which prohibits extradition and other legal matters prevent his voluntary reentry into the country. The case will never be heard.

Not too much evidence. Evidence that pertains to a case that was dismissed with prejudice and therefore cannot be brought to trial is taking up too much space.

I wonder how the investigating agents feel about that? That sounds like a LOT of work...

The DEA should kill him in Panama. Send a message to the world. You just can't come here, commit crimes and go back home with no repercussions. This is not a good person. He stole from us and then I would be willing to bet sent the money to another county.

    Need to make a statement.

So we should just throw away rule of law for what we feel should happen?

Then, when you become insulting to whatever the current administration is, they could do the same to you. Just to make a statement?

I can't believe someone would even make a statement like that...

The wheels fell off of the federal and state criminal justice systems a long time ago.

They are barely functioning and it is not a secret to anyone who works in them.

Wait. It's only 400,000 pages of evidence, taking 2 terabytes (not!) and is equivalent to War & Peace 625,000 times.

    Is W&P a half-page poster????

Seems the author isn't a math whizz.

5% of global DEA storage??? Methinks it's time to get into the drug runnin biz if they only have 100TB of data on EVERY drug thing going on.

Article and situation is FULL of fail!

This is what you so foolishly advocate. If it's OK for us to do unto others, it's OK for others to do unto us, so be careful what you wish for. Then again aren't we already doing this with drones?

    Really?

    Hmmmm.

I wonder why all my colleagues are keeping the secret from me. Have I been bad?

Many time, the seeming inefficiencies protect the rights of us all.

    When did you start LE?

I came on in 1984 and that's my perspective. I never thought about inefficiency as being an effective rights protector, but I'm all ears on how that works.

Thats what happens when your IT staff are the rejects from the private sector. You end up with a worldwide network with 100TB of total storage when you should have thousands.

When a good IT person makes $250,000 a year, the government has the best ones that $50,000 a year can buy.

    Pssst math.... 2TB = 5% = 40TB in total

The storage space was the first thing that jumped out at me in the article. I sell at least one 40TB storage array per day. If they really only have that much space globally, that is inexcusable.
