Favorite .22 Rifle: Henry H001

Discussion in 'Rimfire Forum' started by ditto1958, Jan 7, 2013.

  1. I bought a 10/22 back in June and have never had any regrets. Shortly after that, I also got a Marlin 60. It's really nice, too. In September I got a Henry H001. I put a Hi-Viz front sight on it.

My Henry quickly became my favorite .22 rifle, the on I shoot at least 90 percent of the time. The Marlin sits in the house and looks pretty. I bring out the Ruger about once every 2 weeks or so.

My point of this thread is (yes, I do have a point!), I'm kind of puzzled as to why this has turned out to be the case. The Ruger is easier to reload- just pop in another magazine- and is semi-automatic. Easier to shoot more and faster.

I give my Henry the edge on build quality. The Ruger is built to last, but is clearly mass produced to a price point.

I've shot the Henry and Ruger side by side to compare/review them. For the plinking abound that I do in my backyard range, they are probably equally accurate. The Henry is a bit easier to shoot due to its much better trigger. The 10/22 also has a little bit of recoil that the Henry does not have.

I love my 10/22, but I think the next .22 rifle I get is likely to be another Henry- most likely a Frontier.

Agree. Nice package to own and used mine squirrel hunting this fall. No issues, and reminds me of the old west. Bought a single action 22 revolver to carry along. Usues cheapy ammo, so have at it!

    Great Laker
2 great rifles! I would be happy to be "stuck" with either.

  4. The Henry is one of my favorite .22's. You just can't beat it for the price. Their customer service is one of the best in the industry with the President of the company answering emails.
