Who has or has had, an extended slide stop lever on their Glock pistol? I am wondering if they make a viable difference. Ever since I put a wolff guide rod w #14 spring in the 23c. It seems as if mine is a lil tougher on the thumb to get it to drop down with the factory slide stop lever.
Does the extended lever hinder carry?
Does the extended lever snag?
Installation is not a problem as becoming a Glock Certified Armorer is only a matter of taking the class and attaining the actual certificate for 150.00 ..
Any comments or suggestions would be appreciated be them good or bad.. I am looking for honest end user reviews on the part in question.. Thanks
I've had a G19 for about a month and a half, first handgun, so you know how much experience I have....
Anyway, the extended slide release was recommended to me because I'm a lefty. I've found the best way (most comfortable) for me to close the slide is by holding the gun in my left hand, and reaching over the gun with my right thumb to press on the slide release. Yes, to me the "nub" makes it worth it.
I'm in the process of applying for my CCW, so I haven't even thought of a holster yet.
I use an extended slide release on all my Glocks. They make it very easy for me to lock slide with no magazine in it. But the main reason is that I have broken both hands in a helicopter crash year ago and they are very weak.
On my 19 I use a extended slide release. Love it, its nice to have that extra nub. Dont have one on my 30 but dont carry that as often. its really user preference, so try one out if you dont like it then switch back.
p.s. At the range last week my extended slide lock spring broke, the gunsmith said that just happens from use, so 15 dollars and it back workin again
I have had one on my Glock 23 since I have owned it. I used to have a model 33 with one and it worked fine also. Some shooters just cant get used to the factory one so this product is very popular for glock pistols.
I have them on all my Glocks. I am a lefty also. Take a look at the Arotek SureTouch before you buy the OEM item. After using both, I like the Arotek item much better (same goes for their mag release).
you would say the aro tek is worth the investment over the OEM i assume then.. looks like the aro tek extends further back on the grip and has more surface area for your thumb, i just want to be sure it will not hinder IWB carry.
And thanks to all for your input. Im a righty and it currently takes both thumbs to get the slide to drop as of now.

The extra length means extra leverage - less force on the lever for the same force at the other end. The increased area distributes the force over more thumb/finger area and is therefore more comfortable. I don't like IWB, but the few times I have used it in an IWB holster, I didn't notice any issues.
Agreed. I only have an extend slide release for locking it back with no mag. I'm a lefty..... However, I got a new Glock 19 without the extension and I am able to do it just fine....
I put one on both of my G30s and I will probably put one on every GLOCK I buy from now on.
I couldn't legally CCW when I was in Wisconsin (and still can't here) so I don't have any experience per se, but I did carry my G30 around the house some and never noticed any difficulty from the extended SSL in any of the holsters I tried.
Installation, as you already alluded to, is a piece of cake. Really, 5 minutes, maybe 10 if you take your time. Just remember to move that pin ONLY as far as is necessary to facilitate the swap. Any further and it'll be a bit harder to reassemble (but even then it's not rocket science).
I'm not sure which one you're looking at, but mine are the same size as a standard SSl, only with a "nub". They work great.
ok im convinced. im going to the next gunshow to get that and a few spare prings here in Orlando next week.. id buy online, but the prices are not that great even through some of our glocktalk resellers.. for the price of shipping.. id rather pay to get in the gunshow $6.00 versus paying 7-10 bux for shipping. cant beat a good walkthrough of the gunshows..
of course before installing i`ll have to bring it home and polish it up as im on the polishing kick lately..
NY1 Trigger spring assembly was a bust though. didnt like the feel of it.. went back to the 3.5# connector and 5# trigger spring.
