Expanding M-16 Mag

Discussion in 'Band of Glockers' started by Young Once, Jun 1, 2009.

  1. Guys, need your help to figure this one out. Went to Armscor yesterday to shoot my baby armalite. After using up all the mags (five round strings per mag), I reloaded the first mag with 5 rounds and tried to insert it back into the gun. The mag would not go in. Upon closer inspection, it seems that the mag lips widened (mukhang bumuka), thus could no longer fit in the magazine port. Other two mags were OK all through out. Can you tell me what probably caused this? Thanks in advance!

what kind of mag? Alloy, steel or plastic

  3. Aluminum? Only thing I could think of is it's an old mag that has been kept fully loaded. Hope cebuboy can chime in on this. Anyway ditch it and get another one, preferably one of the NHMTG's FrontSight is selling. If you can find them, get PMags.

If it happens again to another mag, then it may be something else...
  4. CatsMeow, you're probably right. It was a magazine that came along with the gun when I bought it. Noticed that the floor place was kinda bulged, as if removed and then place back again. Thanks, I'll ditch it.
