Get some wood grips on that thing ASAP! I love the blued finish of the 586, but black rubber grips on a blued frame? No good IMO.

    Beautiful firearm!

<insert looking down nose, snob voice here> Well....they're "ok" but they're not P&R'ed. I guess they're nicer than a RG. :whistling:

Seriously, they're darned nice guns. I've come close a couple of times to buying a 586, but I've got a couple of 27's and a 28 so I've always passed.

You do gotta get some wood grips on that poor gun though. It's much to nice to have to wear those goodyears for photo opps.

They are nice guns. I see lots of 686's around here. Very few 586's, fewer yet in that condition. The one I really want to find is a 581.

Anyways, congrats on your new revolver!

Naa........Keep the rubber grips on there. They are the best for shooting. Do get a set of nice looking wooden grips, though. Take a picture of that nice looking revolver with some nice looking grips.......then, put the rubber grips back on! The 586-3 I showed you earlier in this thread have a permanent set of Pachmayer grippers installed.

Show us the pic with the wood grips now and then........and, smile a little bit, because you know you're going to enjoy shooting it, and showing it off, too!

    ooc

Here it is with the original grips. Looks great, but those target stocks are worthless for shooting purposes:

I don't have a current pic with the grippers, but do have this pic with some presentation grips:

Don't do too much shootin', save some for August. I gotta contact your parentals to see if it's cool to visit when ya'll do. I gotta get the **** outta here for a bit, this place drives me absolutely bonkers.

Did your Dad get an optic for the POF? I wanna have a shoot off if he didn't get some sort of 12x super scope. I can't believe all the trash talking your Dad did about my AR and 5.56MM, and now he goes and buys a POF.:rofl:

Oh, and give me a call, my number is the same. And tell Jeff to call me (probably have to borrow Pat's phone, am I right?). I gotta see the little ones, I bet they're growing like weeds. Jason's son looks just like him, like someone ran Jason through a copier, set to reduce the image. Your kid too.

Love those pistols in SS or blued, just such a classicly lined firearm... I grew up shooting wheelguns with wood grips, but the first time I ran through an ammo box with a set of Hogues it was all rubber grippy grips for me from then on...

Oh man, I can feel that perfect grip angle and that sweet sharp single action trigger now if I close my eyes..

I want a 686 to go with my 29-2, but that's not likely to happen any time soon.

I had the 586 in 3", 4", 5", 6", and 8 3/8", as well as the 5" non-full lug model, as well as variants with non-fluted cylinders. Some of those were pretty rare, but none as rare as the one I could never find: the 2 1/2". Had the 686 in all those lengths as well as the 7", which even the factory claimed (incorrectly) that it had never made.

Sold 'em all when I fell in love with CZ semi-autos.

That with an unfluted cylinder would be just perfect!
