I have this friend (yeah, I know...) who is going to Spain soon (she owns a house there) and wants to know if she can play DVDs from the US (or anywhere) on her laptop and connect her TV, which she bought in Spain, to the external monitor output (or even S-Video) and display them on the TV.

    Thanks.

Well, the TV in Spain would be PAL, and I'd imagine the TV out on the laptop should support that, however, the media would need to be PAL to display properly on the TV.

so, I would guess that since dvd's purchased in the US would be NTSC, they wouldn't display properly on a tv purchased in Spain via S-video/HDMI.

If it's connected as an external monitor via the VGA port, then it shouldn't be a problem.
